I have a stainless carry II, and love it, have had a few feeding problems with fiocchi hollopoints but other than that it runs great.

Good job! That's a nice piece you got there. Just be warned, that 1911s tend to multiply for some reason.

You never know. I used to dislike stainless/nickel/hard chrome pistols, then a few years later, I kinda found myself wanting one. But congrats on the Kimber.

If that's an aluminum farmed pistol be careful what mags you use. The followers used in many 1911 magazines can tilt forward while feeding the last round and ding up the feed ramp of the pistol. A Wilson 47D us an anti-tilt follower that won't do that but most conventional McCormick mags do not. I'm s huge fan of Chip McCormick mags (I like them better than Wilson) but not in Aluminum framed 1911s. Fortunately they have a new PowerMag+ line with anti-tilt followers that you can look into.

I had 2 FTF out of a 50 round box, I am thinking it was more ammo related. Next time Out I am going to try a box of better quality JHP ammo to see. I only have about 200 rounds through it as is though.

anything...motor oil, tranny fluid, yak fat, crisco, CLP, slide glide, anything that increases lubricity
![]() FWIW I use RIG (Rust Inhibiting Grease) and Hoppes oil for my 1911's, but I'll be switching to a motor oil mix when I'm out of it Another thing is remember that 1911's like to run wet, so bring some lube to the range with you, and if you have any FTF's remember that it needs to break in |
