I'd say that we should save the rifle spinner for a time when rifle ammo is more plentiful and cheaper.

Hi gentlemen,

I have been collecting the gear for 3gun and need a place to shoot!

Is the road to the range passable by your average car? I know some ranges with dirt roads get difficult to drive after a rain. And I would rather not get stuck in my Mustang.

NEW START TIME
7:30 SIGN-UPS, 8:15 SHOOTERS MEETING, 8:30 START!

No Slugs this month!. Plenty of quality shooting though. See the stages below or on the website www.x3multigun.com

Please I know ammo is hard to get but, do not bring any steel core, armor piercing or other junk ammo. I will send you home!

I expect a large turn out this weekend so if you wish to shoot with your friends please arrive early and get squadded up.

Remember, we are a dry range No water, food, or anything else available please bring plenty of the afore mentioned.

Please spred the word about the new start time and I hope to see you all on Sunday.

Stages out early this week, sweet!
Pistol clays and a dueling tree with the rifle. I guess this means that aiming will be required!

Dane I used to drive my BMW 335 up their it had the sport package and had a low stance. No issues when the sun was shining and the ground dry. To note I felt the pain when I took it to the range cus of the rocky roads and pebbles on my paint. I have since traded in my Beamer for something more suitable for a range rat.

It's almost time again for another 3 Gun match. This weekend March 17th, sign-ups start at 7:30 shooting at 8:30. The attendance is up so if you want to shoot with your buddies get there early, I am going to manage the squads again. Enough said.

..............AMMO REQUIREMENTS............

150 Rifle
100 Bird Shot
75 Pistol
20 Slugs
15 00 Buck

This is just an approximate count.

Bring a Sling for your Rifle as well, I like to make people sling an empty long gun and make you carry it down range

I am still working on the stages but, as soon as I have them done I will post them here and on the website as well.

www.x3multigun.com

Bring plenty of water, food and drinks it is going to be a nice weekend in the 80's.

Remember, leave your junk ammo at home! No Steel core, tracers, etc....

P.S. Did you like shooting the Dueling Tree with the Rifle at distance? Cause your going to do it again, except farther.

Stages are posted below and on the website (in a little bit)

You will not need 20 slugs, that's how many I recomend you bring.

And yes the rumored Shotgun only match is going to happen on the 5th weekend in June

Great fun match. Rifle dueling trees and skinny mini's are fun.

Thanks again Sam for putting on a great match.

I sent the scores to the web guru guy "whisper mode on"(Dennis Chang) "whisper mode off" He should have them up in a couple of hours check link below for website.

www.x3multigun.com

I would like any feed back you have from the match. We had quite a few shooters and all in all I thought it went pretty well. There were a few delays but I think everyone was finished by 4:30. That being said I had a few that didn't finish the match

If you like the stages and the complexity of them let me know if you didn't keep it to yourself just kidding.

Thanks for coming out and joining us, I hope you all had a great time.

i have few things for feedback.

1. on the dueling trees, my squad and the squad in front of us were scoring a hit as a hit whether it spun around or not. no matter what you say to the contrary, thats the way people are going to score themselves. its not fair to have a few people score only on a turn around when other people are not, and the things dont turn around 100% on a clean hit anyways. i know i brought that up before but i'm still trying to convince you.

2. the shotgun targets were too far away. there were alot of targets that got hit but didnt go down. we shouldnt have to use buckshot or a modified choke to make a regular knockdown target fall.

3. steel, clay popper, steel is too easy. please give us some steel, clay popper, steel, clay popper, steel so we have to get two clays out of the air at one time if we mow the whole steel/popper array down at one time.

just my 2 cents. thanks sammy!

Results are posted.

Feedback on the stages

1. I liked the steel shotgun plates being pretty far out, I learned at exactly what distance I need to choke down my gun. For me it was a great learning opertunity, but not everyone will take such challenges well.

2. The dueling tree requirements were clearly stated, and a well placed shot sent the arm around with authority. But I watched a couple of the new shooters struggle with getting the hits using a 9mm. So a little more calibration adjustment might be in order.

3. The jungle run stage was very fun, as we're the all shotgun stages

4. That huge plate with the double clays is was really tough with how high the wall was placed. I like the concept but not my favorite target.

Almost 80 shooters and still being done by 4:30 is still pretty damn impressive. Some of us didn't make this match so it could have been even more crowded. Good luck to those who are headed out to SMM3G!

1st time shooting the X3, I've done quite a few DWB action pistol matches before. Thoughts:
  • The #1 & #2 shotgun stages rocked - big fun.
  • #5 & #6 rifle stages were very tough - especially for me with an iron sight AR fresh from Tim's.
  • #3 seemed to be the bottleneck. Not being able to reset more than 1/2 the targets until the pistol was cleared and holstered slowed up stage.
  • #4 - never made it, left around 3:30.
  • Maybe it's time to up the price and go to 2x per month like action pistol?

well after shooting superstition for the first time, i have to say that our local X3 match is much better. sammy's stages are longer, more involved, require more skill, more reloading, more movement, more having to remember footwork and where targets are hidden, more different types of targets, etc.

im starting to think its not worth the cost and time to shoot big matches until im good enough to get something off the prize table that can pay for the trip. as far as stage design goes, there wasnt anything of substance at superstition you wont see at X3 better.

Bobby - everything you said has matched up to my experiences. Andrew, who's shot them all, says the same thing. I've done 6 major matches, I think, and found them usually easier than X3 or Pala.
I think the major reasons you'd want to go to a major match are the prize table or to see how you stack up against the champs.

The competitors in Tac Scope at SMM3G was the deeeeeeppeest ever. If you wanted to compare yourself to shooters from the rest of the country, the recent SMM3G was the best I've ever seen.

The Nationals isn't going to be nowhere as deep.

But the National stages are probably going to be much, much better than SMM3G. SMM3G has become McDonalds. Billions served with so so food.

April 21st,

Weather in the low 80's, should be a great weekend. Last month we had a really large turn out, I'm not expecting that many this month so if you are thinking of trying 3 Gun now is the time. Let us know if it is your first time when you get there and we will make sure you get the attention you need.

Ammo.....
Usual count, you will need a minimum of 10 slugs and some 00 9 pellet Buck.
100 Birdshot, 150 Rifle, 100 Pistol (Depending on how you shoot)

Make sure you bring plenty of water, snacks and a hat the range is dry and there is nothing available.

You Will Not! need a sling this month, but if you have knee pads I would bring them.

Remember, No Steel Core or armorer piercing ammo, I will make you pay for the damage.

Sign Ups start at 7:30 match starts at 8:30. If you want to squad with your friends I suggest you get there early, do not show up at 8:15 with 8 guys and all expect to shoot together, it won't happen.

The stages are posted below and will be on the web site by this evening. www.x3multigun.com

I hope to see you all at the range, until then,

.

Had a great time today, it was awesome seeing the people I had not seen in so long.

The match today was pretty tough with 6 slugs out past 100yds, and rifle clays sourrounded by no shoots. But it was good practice for the nationals.

Thanks again Sammy

For a match that's the same weekend as Golden Bullet and Texas Multigun, that was a big crowd.

Hi Guys,

I finished up the stages a little early this month, they really look good especially since I get to shoot this month

The weather looks good they are calling for 75 degrees on Saturday and 81 on Sunday. Should make for a really nice weekend.

O.K. now for the important stuff, you will need the usual complement of Rifle, Bird, and Pistol, as well as about 10 to 15 slugs depending on how you shoot. I would bring 00 buck as well I plan on having Shotgun steel at distance this week. (like I never do). You will also have a 24' long tunnel to crawl through with your Pistol, yes I said 24' so I would bring knee pads as well.

Even though the weather looks nice, still bring plenty of water, fluids, drinks or whatever you like to hydrate yourself with. There is nothing for miles around and definitely not at the range.
Please leave your junk ammo at home, no steel core, armor piercing, incendiaries, or WMD. The fire danger is real. Remember, the speed limit in and out of the range is 15mph.

On another note please look at the attachments below, you will find the stages as well as an application for our first All Shotgun Match scheduled for June 29th. If you are interested please download the app, fill it out and bring it with you. This match will fill up and I am limiting the number of shooters.
