Default K98 expert opinions? 84pics!!

Long story short. Belongs to wife. Wife inherits from dad before he passed away. Dad traded a shotgun for this K98 back in the 70's i believed. I was also told, the guy that he traded the shotty with said it was a vet bringback. Almost all matching except top hand guard. Non marking on buttstock plate, front sight hood, bayo lug, rear sight. Whats your 2 cents. Any info appreciated.

it's in rough shape, but all signs point to it being a bring back rifle. the sling is an original German one as well.

the hand guard may have been replaced by the Germans or by somebody in the States. it is marked "dot" though, so it is factory correct. it could also be a mistake by the factory. that did happen occasionally.

on the receiver, "dot" is the manufacturers' code for the Brno, Czechoslovakia plant. manufactured in 1944
