saigarocks, put a WTB ad in the Buy,Sell,Trade forum at www.mausercentral.com/forum , take off barrels show up there. Lothar Walther also makes a replacement barrel, if you want to go that route.

I've got a take off Yugo M48 barrel with a nice bore. I'm assuming it is close enough to a K98 barrel because I had a 98K .308 barrel installed in its place.

M48 will not work. While it is the same threads, size, etc. it is "safety breeched" and won't work with a standard Mauser 98 bolt. Standard Mauser bolt has two projections that act as cartridge feed control guides. The M48 bolt does not have those two projections, as its safety breeching only allow that type of bolt.

RGUNS sells barrelled actions but that makes it $210 plus freight and FFL charges. Kinda pricy

LOL, I actually sold a decent rack-to-field grade 98K barrel here a couple months ago, $55 shipped.

I had it up for sale for a while too, so I find it a little ironic [to me.]

Good luck in finding one, Saiga. Is your current barrel done or damaged or something?

And make sure you have a Mauser barrel wrench (and double check on the threading to make sure whatever barrel is good to go for your receiver).

unless they've been messed with post war, all German barrels will be for the 7.92x57mm cartridge and there should be no reason a barrel from 1935 can't fit a receiver from 1945

Ive got one that came off a German mauser, the guy was rebarreling it and didnt want the barrel, has a few scrapes on it like he might have used a pipewrench. Its just collecting dust in my closet, let me know if you are interested
