Repost? I searched & couldn't find anything.

$650! not a bad deal. Put some work into it and it can be a TRP clone

The RIAs I handled just felt so rough. Also the finish felt like I could scrape it off with my fingernails. Sorry, I was not impressed at all. For $650 I would save and find a used Springfield Loaded, or skip 1911s and get a Glock or M&P.

Looks Good...

Does anyone know if it's CA approved?

It's not on the roster nor will it be.

Get it via single shot conversion. I just found a 07 ffl in Ontario that will do the conversion for you.

The shop is called Cal-Arms. They are located at:

4451 Ontario Mills Parkway
Suite F
Ontario, CA. 91764
909-945-3113
www.cal-arms.com

Why I am I so excited about them you ask?

Well I want in and spoke with David Strait; the owner, today. They are a Type 07 FFL and will do Single Shot Conversion for people as requested. We didn't get in to any pricing but David assured me that he is very into customer service. And, I did get that feeling from him.

He also said that he would receive Single Shot Exempt guns for transfer if you found one at a different dealer. He is also up on the IntraFamliar transfer and understands that they are roster exempt and would be happy to receive all of your off-roster gifts from your parent/child/grandparent in other states. And, speaking about transfers. He has a very reasonable transfer fee. Only $65.00 and that includes the DROS fee.

David is former LEO and also runs a Private Investigation business.

When you go looking for his shop be sure to look for a business called "Spy Gear". They can't put up any signs at their location about guns so they also run this business from the same location.

OK, So Cal lets go get some guns.

You get a lot of gun for your money with an RIA. I really liked mine, would have kept it but I wanted a 10mm 1911. This new one is pretty tempting though.

Also the finish is just as tough, or better than most parkerizing jobs.

Looks good! Very tempting, but that price after fees may not look too great.

Another full rail gun that's impossible to find good holsters for, except this one is made by RIA. What are these (full rail) guns good for besides cutting them down to normal sizes? From what I've read, the main perk of the full rail SA's is the ability to have them cut down to correct specs with their NM oversized frames.

Silver Star makes a custom leather holster for the TRP full rail here.

Rafter S made my TRP full rail a sharkskin holster with ostrich trim.

Comp-Tac makes 10 different holsters for the full rail TRP Operator.

Raven Concealment Systems can make any holster to accommodate the full rail.

The Safariland 6004 is also available to fit the full rail.

I believe that Garrity Gunleather also can make a holster to fit.

mine has been through the ringer. a lot of back packing and training from holsters and it still looks good.

RIA are a great value for the cost you pay on them. when my friends colt is finiky with ammo mine keeps on trudging.

Here's a family pick of some of my better leather. HK with Lou Alessi, TRP with Rafter S, Kahr with Lou Alessi, Wilson with Stan Chen by Josh Bullman, S&Ws with Lobo Gunleather, Seecamp with Matt Delfatti.

How do you like that Legacy Customs Bulman? I'd like to have a Delfatti someday, but they are pricey... and take f-o-r-e-v-e-r if they're even taking orders. Sorry for the semi-derail, PM works!

I think the full rail 1911s are great. Got my mil spec operator and I have no complaints. Tossed a tlr 1 on and I have an accurate, reliable, hd gun. Its a tack driver too. I'd love to see how the ria does after some people get at them.

When I read 2011, I was expecting a cheap clone of a STI/SVI/SPS 2011 double stack.

Now, qualify that with I've never shot a Springfield or other higher-end 1911, but I absolutely love mine. Yes, the finish looks and feels like a rattle can primer job, but it's stout.

I'll buy one and beat on it. I've always wanted a full rail 1911 under $1000.

A gun like the RIA is meant to be used and abused anyway. Its not like its something you are going to mount on the wall. Plus they made durakote for a reason

Was it being sold as a single-shot gun, or sold to LEO only? Or was it available to anyone?

If the finish is anything like my old RIA 1911 Tactical, then I would immediately send it out to get cerakoted.

Looks like a bad clone of the SA TRP Operator full rail.
Safariland model 5187 Kydex holster will work.

Why is it that this gun is not on the roster but Turners has the GI Spec going on sale starting tomorrow?

So I am confused.

It says 2011. Yet it looks like a full rail 1911.

Maybe someone can clear it up for me. Cause I would love to have one if its 1911 specs

Its the same as the standard RIA 1911 in 45ACP but it has a full rail. I saw one in stock last week at Tracy Rifle and Pistol. I think they wanted like around 550+ for it. It might be off list but I'm not too sure. Its not a bad gun for the price but I decided to get something else instead. The one I saw didn't have the 3 dot sights.

It looks like it has tritium sights. I don't really like the full rail 1911's but I am glad RIA is making a low cost one. I do love RIA's and damn glad I own one

I've seen Turner's advertise the RIA GI for $379 in the past, and a few times at $399.

The $419 price is ok, but not the greatest.

Because it's new and new guns can't be put on the roster unless they include a giant loaded chamber indicator and magazine disconnect lock. The Ruger LC9 is a perfect example of what a gun needs to include in order to be added to the roster.
