Default Unissued Norinco SKS.

I have an opportunity to purchase on Gunbroker a new, unissued Norinco SKS. This has the standard stock and fixed mag. It is not C&R eligible, so I suspect that this firearm was one of the new manufacture in the 1980's

Can a Californian purchase this firearms without DOJ problems? Any special considerations? I was under the impression that Norinco imports was a no-no in California.

As long as it has a fixed magazine and does not have a grenade launcher attach point its a CA legal rifle. You'll need to FFL to FFL transship and have a DROS performed at your local FFL.

None of the Chinese SKS, regardless of date, are C&R eligible.

Actually, thaat's wrong. Within 4 weeks, a TRUE 1956 sino-soviet SKS will be C&R eligible because of the 50 year rule. There aren't too many of them, and expect prices to rise.

Why would the Chinese sks not be c&r eligible? I thought any gun 50 years old or older was eligible.

I was thinking of bidding on that same gun. Actually I'm not, but good luck with the bidding. And like the others have already said, I believe its legal.
