Default First Person Shooter Games

This is quite interesting, it discusses why the United States apparently were the first ones to develop the concept of the first person shooter genre of gaming.

You might be able to find those games at some discount game stores, or perhaps ebay or amazon. They might also be downloadable as well, you just
gotta look around.

Haha, I noticed that achievement too, makes me wana play a revolutionary war first person shooter...

I quite enjoyed it as well, the firearm is one of the central tenants of the American culture. It is a part of who we are, those that wish to take it away from us is like they are trying to take away our culture and values. Like trying to take away who we are. This may be why some cultures don't understand our fascination with the firearm. Or maybe I'm just looking too deeply into this.

Wow, that was pretty cool. I dont play video games, well thats not true, I own a wii, but I grew up playing Contra, Commando and MegaMan on Nintendo. Great breakdown of a concept that you think would leap out a you. I always thought Americans like FPS's cause we like to shoot stuff, I never thought about it in the historical context

Cultural studies on videogames AND guns!

100 percent, pure unadulterated win!

You guys should check out some of their other videos too if you have the time, they're quite enlightening!

I wonder if this cultural aspect with guns also carry on into other medium, like movies, television shows, music, etc. My guess is probably.

How is it all wrong? Wolf3d is pretty much generally accepted as the first FPS, with doom being the next one to gain any real popularity. As far as duke nukem 3d is concerned, there were dozens of FPS games between wolfenstein 3d and duke nukem 3d, from a myriad of developers. Duke nukem 3d didn't start anything, nor was it a starting point for anyone.

Probably because of the topic, though being somewhat about gun culture, is mostly about video gaming. Try watching it once you get home, it's quite an interesting video, it's also 5:56 long so..... Hopefully you get the reference!
