Default AR-15 with 7.62X39 Upper

Hi All, new to Cal Guns and building my first AR. I just purchased 2 JD Machine Multi Cal lowers but would like to make a 7.62 Rifle. DPMS no longer sells the complete uppers due to a key supplier tanking. They have no idea how long they will be down for that application and am looking for a good alternative for that load. It looked like Bushmaster made a real nice complete upper and shows as:
This drop-in A3 upper will attach to virtually any standard AR-15 lower receiver. The economical and hard-hitting 7.62x39 Russian is perfect for hunting or target shooting, this flattop upper features a 16", chrome lined M4 profile barrel, A2 flash hider, M4-style polymer handguards, bayonet lug and standard front sight base. Includes one 30-round magazine.
Anyone have experiance with this and or have any favorites uppers that fit on the DPMS lower assy?
Sorry if this is a super redundant question, I did not find an associated thread.
Thanks!

just curious is that DPMS lower you are talking about a registered AW? or just something you want to buy?

But to answer the question with links (left the bushmaster link out because you already know about it )

The lower I have is not DPMS, its a JD Machine. I was looking for a complete Upper from DPMS but called them and they are not selling them at this time till they figure supplier issues out. So I'm looking for an alternative is all on the upper that will fit the JD (DMPS style) lower.

Just to open your mind. Cheap 7.62x39 isn't going to be the most accurate. It will also have less range than 5.56. More recoil, which is enjoyable, but slower follow ups. And, worst of all, PMAG doesn't make a 7.62x39 magazine

Oah ok I got ya. DPMS style/pattern is usually associated to their .308 AR platform. The smaller AR-15 patterns are all to a certain specification. Do you have the larger .308 receiver or the smaller .223 receivers? the 7.62x39 are made for the smaller ones.

Yugo surplus shoots just as good as factory ammo and with a muzzle brake 7.62x39 can feel like a .223

I think the confusing part is when you say DPMS style. Thats associated with the AR's in 308 DPMS/Armalite style.

Any AR15 upper will fit the JD AR-15 lower.

Just do a search for 7.62x39 AR upper.

NOTE: If it's a RAW, then when you buy it, it won't be. registration is non transferrable ... it's a total waste to sell one if you have it.

Back in 1998 a friend insisted that I buy an AR lower and register it...I didn't. Oh well! Bullet button, grumble grumble...

Was just asking if it was a RAW or not, since it was one of their first posts I figure I would start the conversation politely.

Welcome to Calguns! I'm pretty sure Marks Armory sells the Bushmaster 762x39 upper. Check them out, and they're a good price.

I went with SOTA Arms. The M4 feed ramps needed to be fine tuned on mine. I used a file to fix them. I've put over 2500 rounds through it with 0 issues.

I thought about the same thing (AR 7.62x39) but decided to go with the Sig556R instead. I run it featureless and bought a bunch of AK mags. The gun may be more expensive initially, but the lower cost (and reliable) AK mags help make up for it. It is a very fun gun to shoot and you can't beat the low ammo cost for plinking under 200 yards!
