Wow spoke too soon. Just got mine today. About 2 months to the day. So glad this one actually looks like something official. Wish sac county would issue a card like this.

This is a thread of mine that brings me great satisfaction in that it still inspires others to apply, which hopefully strengthens overall National data relative to the demand for LTC from opressed States.

I applaud those who excercise their right to choose whether they wish to carry concealed within the lawful oppurtunities that exist in other states for non-residents.

Thank you so much for originally posting it. I found the site and this thread through a Google search on applying for an AZ CWP, gathered all the information from the posts, mailed it off and received the AZ permit. And I live in that evil state that issues NO permits.

You guys aren't going to believe this but I just received my AZ LTC in 5wks flat from the date I put my application in the mail!

It is strange holding this fancy card which allows me to exercise my 2nd amendment right to self protection in 32 states. It it ridiculous that my home state where I hold several other licenses requiring FBI/DOJ background checks doesn't trust me to carry a pistol for self protection.

I got my AZ LTC app in the mail a couple days ago. Does anybody know of a DPS authorized training provider in Southern CA that can provide the training class for AZ CCW?

NRA class. if you have served in the military, or are on active duty, a copy of your DD 214 or military I D will suffice.

Mailed my paperwork in on June 24.
Received permit today, July 30.
My CA permit looks pathetic compared to my AZ one.

The form is the same. Az makes no distinction between res and non res
Your app, 2 print cards and your money is all that's needed
It takes 5-6 weeks, just forget about it and be surprised when it arrives

New here. Been Lurking for a couple years.

Sent mine in early Feb '12 and got it back in 6 weeks. Called once and they were very nice and told me that they keep the backlog on the desk (e.g. don't open the request envelopes until they can process them, then it goes real quick). Son put his in two weeks later and got it back in 4 weeks.

DD-214 or a simple NRA certified safety class (recommend you do both revolver and pistol) works, as long as you can pass the background........

I just called to get a status and a VERY nice lady, after verifying my identity informed me that my app was received on the 6th of July and entered in the system on the 30th and I was still going through the background process.

Back in the day the wait was no longer than 4 weeks. But in the past few years, the AZ permit has become a badge of honor all over the USA and they are swamped. Many consider it not solely a LTC license but also giving support to AZ’s political stance on many controversial issues. It is a very professional looking license and worth the wait.

The new ones look a lot better than the laminated one I got back in 2000. Of course, I see people posting here in CA that would appreciate laminate ... or even just a permit.

On the political support - I agree, and even said something along those lines to the AZ DPS lady when I called to check status before receiving my latest one.

I travel throughout the Western U.S. for work. Recently, I mailed my non resident Arizona and Utah packages out at the same time. Recieved Arizona in 3 weeks and Utah the following week. Pretty quick I thought!

I would, they have only been taking 4 or 5 weeks lately.
