Quick question.

I'm going to send in my AZ app (finally) and I have a UT CCW permit that I'll be using.

Do I just need to provide a photo copy of the permit card only? Or do I also need to scan in my Dept of Public Safety note (not addressed to me, just a generic form included with the permit)?

Should I scan in both front & back sides of the card? Or is just the front with my information & picture ok?

Received my AZ LTC 9/19. Had to resend packet 8/18 because I didn't fill out the finger print cards fully.

May be a stupid question, and I did read through the entire thread (unless I missed it), but:

What's the benefit (or privileges) of obtaining a CCW Permit (as a non-resident) when "effective July 29, 2010, Arizona is now a constitutional carry state, which means everyone can carry concealed without a permit in Arizona"?

With an AZ permit you'll be able to carry concealed in all the blue states. Nevada is the main benefit for me personally

As already mentioned, reciprocity with other states, so for example you can carry concealed in Vegas with an AZ permit now.

But if you visit AZ a lot, there are a few other advantages:
1.) You can carry into a bar or restaurant that serves alcohol (though you cannot imbibe).
2.) You can carry into federal "gun free" school zones.

Ditto on the Nevada benefit. Main reason I got one. Dont need to mess with the overbearing requirements of Utah either...

I got the email stating I would be sent a packet last Tuesday and have yet to get anything in the mail. Should I email again or keep waiting?

I'm in the same boat. Shot an email over yesterday in regards to status and haven't heard anything yet. I'm pretty sure it's because they're swamped with all these applications coming in.

I know months back when I did mine it took about 4 days after the email saying one would be sent. I suspect they are just clobbered with applications so I would give it a day or so then call them.

Friendly folks there.

Was just a matter of time that something which took 10 days 3 months ago now takes 1 1/2 to 2 months.

Arizona must be making some revenue hand over fist.

Arizona is taking longer to process applications now or so it seems and that is probably due to the rush by Californians to get them. It has been a few weeks since i sent mine and I have my CA. CCW. I expect it to take a month or so and if you are in the Roseville area outside of sacramento the guy in the Roseville police department that is doing the standard prints has multiple permits for just about everywhere himself. He is a wealth of good information. Good sources with accurate info are hard to come by and he was well worth the money just for the info and finding out which permits he went for country wide. Just FYI

Sent application in July 27th. Received AZ permit Sept 19th.

Have CA CCW already. Good to go for NV and many more states.

I received my application today and will be sending it out tomorrow. May I properly assume that the Arizona permit does not include a picture, since they don't require one to be sent in with the application?

medicdude, I got all that. I am just wondering if the actual card has a photo of the card holder on it. I am assuming it does not since AZ does not ask you to send one in with your application (like Utah does.)

It doesn't. Just a holographic image of the state in the upper right corner.

Anyone here submit their AllSafe Basic Handgun training certificate, taught by TJ Johnson? If so, any issues?

I asked AZDPS and they said that they didnt have that training course on file, and that his Supervisor would have review/examine the certificate before approving.

I'd rather take this course over the NRA Basic Handgun course that TJ teaches, because per TJ, it focuses more on fundamentals of Defensive shooting as opposed to the fundamentals of Recreational Shooting.

Thanks!

Received my AZ LTC yesterday. It took a full two months. By law they are allowed 60 days to process the application and it looks like they need that time with all the applications they have.

Supplied them with a copy of my NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course certificate. Taken with TJ Johnson at AllSafe

I had my finger print cards done at the Anaheim Substation on Santa Ana Canyon they were really great there. The officer was quick and efficient. $20.00 for the two cards. THEY CLOSE FOR LUNCH 12-1PM

East District
Location: 8201 E. Santa Ana Canyon Road
Phone: 765-3800
Hours of Operation: Mon - Fri 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
*Walk-in appointments for fingerprint cards only (No Live Scan)

That's about it.

I actually sent AZ an email and got a response back saying that they are just now processing applications that were sent in at the first of September... Mine was sent in the third week of September, so I'm guessing mine will be at least another 3 weeks...

Mailed my paperwork 20 Sept. Received permit 22 Oct. One month, two days... Am guessing military career might have helped process time? I'm happy!

Damn. I mailed my stuff into AZ on Sept 20 also, but when I called on Friday (Oct 21) they said they didn't have my info in the system yet.... meaning they haven't processed my application yet. The lady also told me that they're running 2 months behind, which I figured as most others had said the same thing.

I just hope I receive it before Nov 23, since I'm going to be in NV during Thanksgiving break.

Where as if I sent in a NRA certificate from a firearms course I took, AZ would immediately approve it and send out my permit.

I sent mine in the first week of September, got the permit in the mail a little over a week ago. I guess that makes it just over a month. I just used my NRA Instructor card and my Utah permit as proof of training. Also, I did my own fingerprinting on the cards that were provided. Pretty simple process overall.

The lady that I talked with there was REALLY nice as well. She answered every question I had and detailed the requirements precisely. I told her that I was primarily a California resident, but I travel the South West often. She giggled slightly and said "Sorry".....I thought that was funny. She did say that they were having a real influx of permit applications and that they had added staff to cover it. Seems that the good folks at AZDPS are doing all they can. Funny how they feel that a legally armed populace will help to reduce crime. Don't they know that guns are "evil".....

08/26 - Requested package
09/01 - Received package
09/13 - Mailed completed application
10/22 - Received permit

So just shy of 6 weeks to receive my permit. Very nice permit too, wish my CA license looked like this! Oh and by the way, I used my CA CCW to satisfy the requirement.

Here's what my map looks like now

Damn, that sucks. I guess I probably have the longest process going right now....

July 22 - call AZ and request the packet
July 26 - receive packet in mail
Sept 20 - mailed in my app, money order, and documentation needed (waiting 45 days for my UT permit)
Oct 21 - called AZ and they didn't have any info of my packet even being received
Oct 27 - called AZ and they said my packet was received and that my background check started on Oct 24

I was hoping to have my permit before Thanksgiving, since I'll be in NV for a week. However by this rate, I should receive my permit just before Christmas.... roughly 6 months later

I Received mine today. It's taken about 2 months.

It's interesting Sacramento's was sent registered.

Arizona's came in regular mail in an envelope with "Concealed Weapons Permit Unit'" as the return address.
Got to love Arizona, much different then here.

Also the permit card is much nicer.
