Default Heritage Rough Rider Single Action .22 Revolver: Legal?-Bought One!

I noticed some folks here recommending the Heritage Rough Rider .22 revolver to people wanting a single action revolver.

I don't see it on the California Roster Of Handguns Certified For Sale. Is it legal to purchase here in Calif.?

(1) Was originally manufactured prior to 1900 and is a curio or relic, as defined in Section 478.11 of Title 27 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
(2) Has an overall length measured parallel to the barrel of at least 7 1/2 inches when the handle, frame or receiver, and barrel are assembled.
(3) Has an overall length measured parallel to the barrel of at least 7 1/2 inches when the handle, frame or receiver, and barrel are assembled and that is currently approved for importation into the United States pursuant to the provisions of paragraph (3) of subsection (d) of Section 925 of Title 18 of the United States Code.

I've seen them at Turner's in Fountain Valley.

My dad is looking for one. Is there a shop that carries them in or around the east bay?

Just ordered one from Bud's Gun Shop, (www.budsgunshop.com). I ordered the .22LR/.22Mag with 4 3/4" bbl. which is a new gun but with a small factory blemish for $149.00 with free shipping to my FFL.

That's a bargain! I hope it's not a piece of junk.

They aren't junk, they just aren't as pretty as a single six. Good gun for target and plinking. I just don't see it as a gun that will last for generations. You will have fun with it

This is my first attempt to attach photo files so bear with me, I hope it works.
This is my Coco Bolo gripped Heritage Arms 22/22mag. I've had it for a couple of years and STILL haven't put a round through it. They look nice and are strudy. This has the steel frame, not the alloy. Be nice to get a range report when you pick yours up and get to excersize it. BB

They came out fine aghauler. Looks good and thanks. How come you haven't shot it?

I'm pretty sure for $149.00 the one I'm getting must be the alloy frame. I don't care as I just wanted a knock around piece I don't have to worry about.

Also, saving more than $250.00 over a Ruger .22/.22MAG is nice though I know it won't have the same quality but I can shoot a lot of ammo for $250.00!

I'll report back when it arrives.

I agree with all the points you make re:cost and knock around gun. Range time is few and far between for me as I have to go over to NV to legally shoot, that's the closest range to me, 70 mile round trip. Usually I have something I need to function test or just try out and don't have/take the time to dig too deeply into the security cabinet. I've got A NIB H&R Sportsman 4" bbl still with attached hangtag, same with a Mossberg M500 20ga Crown Grade. True safe queens!!!!!! I look forward to your report! BB

Thats pretty slick looking. You should add some new grips along these lines.

I'd look like Georgie Patton if I put those on the pistol and had it in a holster. I'd didn't know they had added these other grips to their website since I bought this pistol though so thanks for the headsup! I kinda like the Fleur de Lis grip, looks nice and has some texture to it! BB

Hey everyone! This is my dad's Rough Rider by Heritage Mfg in 22lr (not mag). It's held up pretty darn well except having to replace the cylinder hand spring (which they shipped to us for free). I bought those irvoy grips for it, and thought you'd like to see it! :]
