This includes Tax and S&H to me, group buy prices might be off by a few percent as im adding in the paypal fee's.

bags

1 gallon each = .43 (mormon store, 7 mils, sized 11x13 )
5 gallon each = 1.14 each (sorbentsystems.com item number 20MFS30, 4.6 mils, sized 20x30)
(advice and beans was right, i got reamed on s&h & tax) if i do it again, ill do local pick up and save 50.00

oxy absorbers - i was charging 6.25 for either size bag, so im ahead there, which i think is going to even out the bag price change.

100cc 100 per pack, 40 packs per case = 5.13 per bag
500CC 40 per pack, 40 packs per case = 3.37 per bag

oxy absorbers bulk pricing. the bad thing about bulk pricing these, is that the 500's for example come in bags of 40 absorbers, once you open
the bag, its important to use them all, or reseal the ones you dont use in a bag and then possible in an airtight jar.

Shipping = 10.00, looks like i can get up to 3 bags of oxy's and up to 20 bags of 1 gallon, and 10 5 gallon bags per box. If I go to the next size up in box, the price goes to 14 per box for USPS, these items are pretty heavy. an USPS provides free shipping box's, which is great.

For ease of shipping and use, It's going to have to be sold per bag, so that when you open the bag, you can reseal it yourself to keep them lasting longer. Its looking to me like the 100's & 500's are the best value, 1 or 2 of each for either a tight packed bag or loose packed bag.

Questions? Comments? Concerns?

Found this sheet on the drypak website. likely to use this for my own estimates on how many absorbers to put in each bag.

Found this on Sorbent Systems, has some other info on cc's

Information from original post, snipped to make post more readable now that products have been purchased and to clean up the first post to make it readable.

Ive listed all my price sources below, some of them beat ebay & amazon prices by up to 50%, if you notice a difference in price from what I have listed below to whats on the site, its usually between 3% and 4% difference is for the PayPal fee's, the extra 1 or 2 cents per order will help me with Label Costs and so forth.

I compared the following sources
https://www.usaemergencysupply.com/e...orage_bags.htm 4 to 6 gal = 1.47 each / 20 x 30 inches 5 mils thick

http://mylarbagsdirect.com/ 5gal = 1.59 each / 18 x 28.5 inches 4.6 mils thick

http://beprepared.com/Default.asp?

http://www.drypak.com for the absorbers (bulk supplier)

BEST PRICE BULK SUPPLIER
http://sorbentsystems.com 5gal = .80 = /18 x 28.5 inches 4.6 mils thick (min order 300) This is the best price point ive found, as its manufacturer direct. so its almost 50% off most of the other peoples prices.
(bulk supplier) looks like the company that supplies the mormon cannerys

These guys pulled a bait and switch on me, if you go to their website,t hey still show the 18x28.5 on sale for .80 cents each, yet they conveniently out and said they wouldnt have them back in stock anytime soon. so i had to take the next step up and get a diff size for .95 cents each. (still the cheapest i could find)

1gal = .37 = / 11x13 mormon online store has the best price on 1 gallon bags since they buy in bulk of over 5000 bags at a time.

250 bags for 107 with free shipping from the cannery. (thanks to jerkdog for info), not allowed to resale for profit, which im not doing.

If you have better bulk suppliers let me know.

oxy absorber calculations depending on what your storing.

https://www.usaemergencysupply.com/i..._absorbers.htm

5 gallons = 20 qts = 4000 milliliters
1 gallon = 4 qts = 800 milliliters

Final price I paid for everything (this includes S&H from the suppliers)

1 gallon each = .43 (mormon store)

************************************************** **********************************************

I'm going to set up a website tonight to make it easier to order the packages. I will accept PayPal however it will be an added 3%, which should not be a problem as the prices on these are so low.

If you really do not want to use PayPal, please PM me and we can work something out. If at all possible I really prefer PayPal since It makes it easier for me to print labels, keep track of who's paid and for what packages and I can setup a small ebay store on one of my domains in about an hour when I get home tonight.

Paypal also lets you use credit cards and debit cards, even without having a PayPal account, thus saving me and yourself from having to deal with checks.

To get the low prices on these I need to buy in bulk directly from the manufacture, I need solid commitments for at least 500.00, ill pay the the other 327 out of my pocket with the expectation of eventually selling the rest of these.

no problem with SD - im going to be using paypal and USPS priority mail to ship,so i can get the shipping box's for free, from minor gun parts ive sent out, the S&H should only be 5.00 each per box. im doing actual shipping, so if you send me to much, ill be sending back refunds on shipping prices. i cant see it being more than 6.00 per package, and each package should be up to 30 bags and absorbers no problem.

I would be interested. I found a guy on amazon that I bought some from. OakTree international. They were around $26 for 10 bags and 10 2000cc absorbers. Sounds like this would be cheaper. One suggestion from my packing experience. 5 gallons and 2000 cc of absorption means you have to seal the bag REALLY close on the product. Ie, I found that I would not get complete tight packed bag on some bags. So now I put in an extra small absorber. Might consider grouping these with slight overkill on the absorbers. Anyways I would be in for a 10 or 20 pack.

question... how do you guys seal these? Is the heat from those Food Saver vacuum things sufficient to seal these?

Typically the answer is yes. The large bags probably won't fit in the FoodSaver, but the smaller 1-gal bags should.

You can also use an clothes iron (place a small dowel underneath the bag and you'll get a nice, straight seal). Hair straighteners (the flat faced kind) also work.

I really thought there would be more interest in this, i guess all the people that wanted to stock up on supplies already have.

Lets see where we are near the end of may, if we are anywhere close, if we are anywhere close, ill put in the rest myself, figure i can recoup my money at the farmers market some weekend.

I'd like about 3-500 bags like this. Is this a quart size? 6.5"w x 11"h

I would like half with zipper-lock and half without.

I like the idea of color bags as a way to visually see what you have.

Breakfast = green
Lunch = blue
Dinner = red
Snacks =gold

1gal = .37 = / 11x13

so the size you posted looks like a little less than half a gallon.

the colored and ziplocks add a bit more to the price, im trying to stay with cheapest bulkest i can get.

as an fyi, while we are still short about 200 for the first order, im going to cover the rest on my own and once the group buy people get theirs at the cheapest price, ill sell the others on ebay or the commercial forum's.

im putting in the order next week. ill update shipping times and so forth when i get it from the manufacturer.

So I will take 750 bags.

PM me your contact info and I will bring the cash over.

https://www.usaemergencysupply.com/e...orage_bags.htm

Mylar Bag 8in. x 12in. (18-02-018) - by the case (500 bags)
# of Cases Cost per Case (Cost per Bag)
1 case $120.00 ($0.24)
2-4 cases $105.00 ($0.21)<<<--- can we get this price??
5+ cases $90.00 ($0.18)

Which site will you be using so I can get a bag with close dimension to what I posted? I guess I will just use colored labels as a way to save $$$$.

FoodSaver will work. Also, flat irons (for hair) work well too.

Tried the foodsaver and it does NOT get hot enough. If Im sealing food for survival I want a real sealer to get a good long lasting seam on it. The extra $$ are worth the piece of mind for me.

@yugo - its been at the top of the thread for the last couple weeks. ORDER HERE http://mailhot.org/GBCG.html

@problem - 2 inches thinner and 2 inches shorter, but your right, we get double the amount of bags, which makes it work out better for all of us.

ill ping you this week and we can meet up next weekend depending on my schedule.

i used my wifes iron it has the temp control, i made sure to seal the top 2 inches of the bag to make 100% sure i got a good seal.. it doesnt look pretty, but its a solid seal on the rice and beans i tested with. and i dont mind the smaller portions, since im going to do about half in small single use servings and a couple of buckets in 5 gallon sizes

its this model. http://www.sallybeauty.com/nano-flat...efault,pd.html

i used a clothes pin to keep the bag lined up, then ran it across twice.. in about 20 minutes the oxy absorbers kicked in and you could see it was vacuumed.

Im a bit confused. Are we doing one bulk order to combine freight and reduce the prices of the bags or ordering separately from that page you posted? I need these bags asap as I want to get this food all sealed up in 2 person bags. Its going to take me a week of work to do 700 + bags.

If the price is the same then I might as well just order them and be done with it. Get back to me when you have a chance.

Hey y'all, I don't mean to interrupt, especially as I have 0 threads and I know how most folks respond to 0-threaders on forums...=)

However, in case there is any interest, I'd like to put in a price quote for y'all on whatever the final product count is for this order. I run Advice and Beans and Discount Mylar Bags, and I stumbled upon this thread Googling something. I think I might be able to beat whatever total you end up with.

I think one thing that might not have fully checked on is shipping...from Sorbent, from Drypak, wherever...those costs can be significant due to the weight of Mylar and 02 Absorbers and can add up to .05/unit or more to whatever it is you're buying. For example, if you buy 300 18x28's from Sorbent, the shipping cost is over $30 (it says $27.98 on their site, but there will be an adjustment after you place the order), adding $.10 per unit to your price. 02 absorbers can be worse, because for example one case of 300cc absorbers weighs over 30lbs.

Plus, I would be glad to do the sorting and shipping for Jamail, saving on one set of shipping costs for going from the suppliers to you and then to the end users. I use USPS Priority Mail for pretty much everything, and I'd do exactly what Jamail suggested and charge actual cost only.

I don't carry alot of SKU's, but I could do 10x14's (3.5 mil), 20x30's (The same bags Sorbent and Mylarbagsdirect uses), 18x28" zip seals (also the same bags that Sorbent and MBD use) and 100cc(packs of 100),300cc(packs of 50),1000cc(packs of 20), or 2000cc (packs of 10) absorbers. I also have some 14"x20" 5 mil bags on order for some time in June in case someone wanted a thicker 2 gallon bag.

Anyhow, good luck no matter what, I think group buying is a great idea. If you're interested in letting me bid, drop me a line at tobias.truman@gmail.com.

Thanks,
Tobias

Thanks for the question; sadly, not in stock, though I have a smaller quantity of 10"x16" in 5 mil on order which should deliver in early June.

OK. I went to the site to order, and went through the process and then when paying PayPal had an error, so I don't know if I paid or not. I'll check my account online in a couple hours and see if there is a charge on the card. If not I'll do it again.
