Default San Diego LDF All Steel Match April 30 PICTURES & SCORES

Hello Shooters,

Well it's time to break out the gun and lots & lots of ammo because LDF is putting on another 5th Saturday Steel Match @ Pala and we want all of you to attend on April 30 2011. The last match was awesome, we had 75 shooters and all went smooth. We will be having an early bird start around 8:00am for the early risers, but not all of you have to get there that early the normal start time will be 9:00 AM. And last sign ups around 10:00 AM. With 100 shooters it does take awhile to complete the match but we do appreciate you sticking with us. Another thing I am going to do is limit the round count on the stages to 20-24 rounds that way it does not take as long to shoot the stage, also make the stages a little easier for the new shooters. But they will still be as fun as ever. Food and drinks will be available for purchase though out the day.

If you have not attented one of our steel matches now is the time, you will have a blast (no pun intended)

I want to thank all of you that attended the last match and hope to see you again at this match and hopefully some new faces.

http://www.lineadefuego.info/

Don't forget to bring lots of ammo the match will be six stages and 120-150 rounds plus the misses you may have.

$30 for non-members and $20 for LDF members.

There will be an onsite 'street taco' vendor and drinks available!

Be safe, shoot accurate & fast,

Best,

Jim Buccellato
Match Director (LDF)
speedchaser2@cox.net

THANKS TO ALL WHO CAME OUT!! OVER 102 SHOOTERS HAD FUN ALL DAY!!

This sounds interesting. I downloaded the LDF membership application. Part of the fee to join includes a regular membership to Pala (so I can use Pala even without LDF event)?

Looks like you hold several different kinds of events. Both rifle and pistol oriented?

LDF (Linea De Fuego) is primarily a USPSA (.org) action pistol club, but we do have a growing 3 gun segment. Pistol matches are held every 2nd & 4th Saturday starting 9 am at the Pala range (Directions can be found at lineadefuego.info) and 3 gun matches every 2nd Sunday starting at 9 am. And of course whenever there's a 5th Saturday our popular All Steel Match (USPSA rules) at the start of this thread.
Please come out and check out the fun!

So this is an all pistol steel match?
What is the price to register for the match?

Thanks, I didn't see the answers on the website.

I just got back from the IDPA match, hosted by LDF at Pala. As someone who is new to the sport I can say without reservation that these guys are great! If you're intimidated by shooting in a match, don't be. Everyone is super helpful and friendly. Thanks to everyone for a great day of shooting!

Hey Rob

This is primarily a centerfire pistol match but we do have 3-gunners who use the match for strictly shotgun (birdshot only) practice.
We also have a group of .22 rimfire shooters, most with AR conversions in .22 LR and they knock 90% of the steel down and just call hits on ones that don't fall. Great fun for everyone.
Match is $30 for non-members and $20 for LDF members.
Sorry about the missing info but I just pasted the match director's email.

That sounds really fun, now I don't know what I would like to shoot. I love my .22 conversion in my rifle. How many mags should we have? I think I only have 3 for my conversion kit .22.

Rob

There will be six stages, round count 20-24 per stage, so a minimum of 3 ten rounders (better 4) should get you through each stage (counting misses!).

Where in the H-E-double hockey sticks was Stage 7?

All the posts in this thread said 6 stages. All the people in my group (Group 7) were first time LDF shooters. The scoresheets only had 6 stages. We ran stages 1-6 and thought we were done. We all ended up with DNFs. Would have been nice if someone had mentioned to not forget Stage 7 when they gather each group to begin shooting.

Finding out we (our group of regular SSA shooters who came out to try this match) missed a stage just ruined what was previously a good day. It's like finding out you forgot to answer an easy question on a test and it ruined your grade, you know?

Oh well, no use crying over spilled milk. The match was fun, though. I see myself attending more of these in the future. BUT I'll make sure to ask how many stages are set up next time.

As it turned out when registration went over 60 people the Match Director (Jim) decided to add stage 7 between 5 & 6; it was a single plate rack, and was shot like a classifier with three strings recorded for your total time.
The idea was to ease congestion as it was starting to get crowded and we would rather have people shooting than waiting for a stage to clear out.
It's hard to predict the turnout, next time we'll probably have 7 stages planned with an 8th in reserve.
As for the scoring most people just created a 7th column on the scoresheets.
Glad you came and I (we) apologize for the confusion.
