Thumbs down beware of Blackthorne Products if you don't like Hesse/Vulcan/Joeken Arms

Blackthorne Products (www.blackthorneproducts.com) offer products at prices WAY TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE on gunbroker as well as gunsamerica.com. However, with some research, they are just another spinoff of the Hesse/Vulcan/Joeken family of low quality firearms.

Here is the link of the discussion at ar15.com:

Just a headsup!

I notice from that thread that some folks were hoping they were rewrapped DPMS parts.

When you have to look "up" to DPMS, you've got to be hurtin'.

unfortunately, they are one of the only places for galil parts. it's widely known that blacy's is the same as vulcan/hesse. joeken is a weasel of a different color. at least blacky's sends SOMETHING for your money.

J&T's one of the best of the kit vendors, and they have a good reputation. I've got a full J&T kit and a J&T upper, and both have been just fine. Nothing fancy, but works well.

I thought J&T is a doublestar company. They sell the same "kits" verbatim.

depends on what you are doing with it Get ready, armalite mags aren't going to fit in the well unless you use a shim of some sort.

Or you can do what I did...Machine the "shelves" of the inside of the upper, machine a slot down the center of the magwell and use lager DPMS mags instead. I had 2 HAR25s....first OLLs as a matter of fact. What a pain in the you know what....those being the first I owned its amazing I even like black rifles.

Can anyone tell me why these guys are still in business when they're pumping out ARs with all the quality of a Yugo? Someone must be gobbling up their products to feed them new capital.
