Default GSSF and CGSSA Presents: The GLOCK West Coast Challenge I (02/20, and 02/21)

Ever since we lost the GSSF match in Norco,CA a couple of years back Calguns Shooting Sports Association (CGSSA) has been working hard with the GLOCK Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF) to bring a replacement back to the SoCal area, and I happy to say that for 2016 we made it happen.

On Saturday, February 20, 2016 and Sunday, February 21, 2016 we'll be hosting the The GLOCK West Coast Challenge I at Burro Canyon Shooting Park in Azusa, CA.

With an anticipated attendance of around 300, we're going to need all the help we can get, so if you're interested in volunteering, please complete and submit our Volunteer Form and we'll add you to the list. You can work half days, full days, or both days, and each shift that you do will earn you an entry into a special drawing for volunteers of a free GLOCK Pistol that will be drawn at the end of the day on Sunday. In addition, each volunteer will receive a trendy GLOCK Range Officer Polo Shirt, a GLOCK Range Officer Hat, and complimentary gift of their choice from GLOCK for each day worked.

Chad:

I commend you on all your hard work to get this done, I just saw the announcement on the GSSF site also!

We lost a good event when we lost the Norco GSSF event! I am confident that Calguns/Burro can get it done better! I will be glad to help make this a success any way I can.

Can you please share what kind of work the volunteers would be doing and how long the shifts would be? Thank you!

Thank you for your kind words, and willingness to help out. I'd be lying if I said isn't wasn't challenging. For 2016 GSSF had only 4 new slots available for matches and there were ten clubs vying for them. We should really feel fortunate that we were selected to be one of the four.

Most of the volunteers will be utilized as Range Safety Officers, and will be registering competitors, running competitors, tracking scores, taping paper targets, and resetting steel targets.

There is not experience required per say, as we'll put you in a position where you'll be the most useful based on your experience. We'll also provide you with all the information and training that you will need to ensure that you are successful. The shifts will be half and full days either Saturday, Sunday or both. The more you work the greater your chance will be to win the free RSO gun.

I think Glock USA and the GSSF realized they had a huge gap to fill here in So Cal! Those of us who have competed in this event in the past dearly missed it! Azusa hills are much closer for most of us than Piru or Tuscon!

Chad - Feel free to contact me for any help you might need on this!

Added a link to our work in progress website. We should have a lot more content in the next month or so.

There is also a link from that page for volunteers to sign up and pick a shift. If you have already contacted me via PM to volunteer, you don't need to use the form (unless you want to) as I already have you on the list and will be reaching out to you shortly.

Just signed up but the form won't let you volunteer for more than one shift. I'm guessing it's a version of the old show volunteer form? Anyway, you know I'm down for both days.

A "work in progress" is what I would say about the website. I'll put you down for both days, and we'll get the form updated to allow for multiple shift selections soon.

I just tried to register for Saturday (with a possible Sunday). It errored on me telling me shift was a required field, even though I'd put Saturday morning down. I'll work all day Saturday.

Thanks for the feedback. We took the mandatory field requirement of the shift selection for the time being so people will be able to register as a volunteer without any issues while we further troubleshoot.

I added a volunteer list to the first post, so if you've communicated with via PM about volunteering before the website form was available please check the list to make sure that you're own it.

An email to all volunteers will be going out soon as well.

Are you working both days? If so, I might be available from either DTLA area or the SFV.

I'll have to check with the range, but I don't think they typically allow camping for obvious reasons.
