Question Factory 308 ammo w/200 Grains bullet?

I went to Glendale show and came across surplus 308 ammo. It was factory ammunition (plain white box Winchester) but the most curious thing about this ammo was the weight of the bullet. The box said that it was 200 grain bullets?!

I am familiar with 168 grain and 175 grain but never seen a 200 grain before!!!

Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

for 190+ grains being pushed out of a .308, you'll need a twist rate of at least 1 in 11". I haven't seen 200 grains before.. but i've seen 190 and 210 grains.

You can purchase 30 caliber bullets up to 250 grains I think, but those are meant more for the 300 magnum and any larger cased wildcat like that. They generally don't expand at the velocity a 308 can manage, and then the stabilization problem adds in. I've fired 225 gr barnes bullets just to see if it could be done, they were not all that accurate. I believe I had to single load these as they would not fit into the box magazine.
