Default BOHICA 50 BMG UPPER END RESULT - RANGE TEST ON 4 22 WITH REPORT IN THE EVENING

BOHICA 30" UPPER, KNS spade grip kit.

PLAN B ON POST 97 WITH PICS 5 7 11
Cali legal 50 bmg

I will test this on 4 22 11 and post a report...and pics of the groupings if I can handle the recoil and don't break the mount!!

4 - 22 2011 TEST REPORT

4/22/2011 - I took the gun to Burro, and other than getting accused of stealing a rock....things went just like I feared!!

The mount to my adapter failed after two shots. It couldn't take the load of the 50. The M3 tripod really sucked up the recoil, but the STEEL rail/adapter ate it. The small mounting bolt broke, I can't see how it lasts even with normal shooting off a bipod. The forward dog ear extension on the tripod rail mount also bent like warm butter from two shots. Back to the drawing board.

As to the recoil it felt like catching a medium fast ball pitch on the palms. I am sure with out the M3 it would feel like catching a ryan Nolan fastball!!

The gun worked well, no misfire, the chamber is a bit tighter than a M2HB thats for sure, no issues ejecting brass, and no issues with the lower afterward.

I will go to plan B and let you all know how it worked.

P.S. - Some LA PD right next to me...noted right away the gun was legal as it wasn't a rifle!! I guess they read cal guns too.

New photos of the pintle to rail adaptor - its still not finished cosmetic wise, but its functional now

What kind of groups can you shoot with that set up? Doesn't seem like you would have great trigger control.

I hope you get KNS Precision's tripod mount adapter as well. I can't imagine trying to hold the recoil down on that otherwise.

I have machined an adaptor to attach a M3 tripod pintle to the forestock. It will share duty on the tripod with its big brother the M3HB.

And when in Vegas to play poker I will remove the KNS spade grips and go with a A2 Ar stock for shoulder fire.

The unit will be topped off with a Nightforce benchrest scope.

The trigger control is similar to a RRA NM 2 stage trigger...because it is a RRA NM 2 stage trigger.

I can say the KNS spade grips are really well made and super well designed.

I wanted to use it at Burro and Angeles, so I went spade grips to make it legal.

Not to sure if the title 1 firearms are like the AR pistol receivers. Once you put a rifle stock on it it becomes a rifle forever legally. Maybe some one smarter than I could give insight about that.

I hadn't thought about this originally, but I tend to agree with this statement. If you really think about it, an extra lower and parts kit is cheap insurance compared to a possible AW charge.

I intend to have two different lowers. I takes too long to change the buffer tube, stock, hammer spring, put on the KNS kit, etc.

I'd expect 15"-20" groups at 1000 to be what most decent shooter could do with it if, they had the right ammo for it and figured out a way to use a decent rest system or installed a better bipod (think "Sinclair") on it.

I agree. Seems much less useful than even an AK/AR pistol, and far more expensive.

It's not bad at all. In fact, I bet that, when in a rifle configuration, it has less precieved recoil than your .308. Christ, 13 and 14 year olds have spent 3-5 days behind 50s at FCSA matches without any problems.

Agreed. Who are you to criticize how someone wants to enjoy his 2nd amendment.

I personally like this set up. He did achieved a several things here.
1. He has a legal post ban .50 cal in this state now.
2. It is a pretty innovated idea and out of the box thinking.
3. It should be interesting to fire, to say the least.
4. It's going to turn heads at the range.
5. It's truly separates the boys from the men.

And to hell with accuracy... I would want one just for the sheer fun of shooting a .50.
