Default Smith receivers M14

What do u guys think about smith receivers? Are they better than LRB units? LRB wait time is 2 month wait.
Rguns has Smith receivers in hand ready to ship..? should i wait for LRB or buy a SmithEnterprise.

I don't wana make a bad buy..

Smith receivers are castings, which isnt a bad thing, the LRB are forged and machined, the same as military receivers, and the price reflects this. JT

As far as I know the new Smith receivers aren't out yet so there's a wait for those anyways - if you don't mind cast (and most civies won't wear one out) check out Fulton. 7.62mmm firearms has forged receivers and their quality is very good now that they've worked their way through the "learning curve".

BTW, the new Smith receivers are milled from barstock (like the old Entreprise rec'vrs), not investment cast.

I have a crazy horse built by Ron Smith on a LRB receiver, Ron Smith has told me that Both receivers are equally good but LRB production is faster.

By the way he also told me that the way my rifle is marked its fairly rare.

Nothing wrong with Smith's, but the LRB receivers I've handled were all very finely made.

The new Smith barstock receivers are not yet available. LRB's are without question a great M14 receiver but expensive and the wait to get one can be long. 7.62MM Firearms is now making a forged M14 receiver and their pricing is roughly 3-4 hundred dollars less than the LRB product. Not only that, but 7.62 Firearms can build you a rifle with one of their new forged receivers, bolt, and a GI barrel in less than a weeks time. That alone is hard to beat! How do I know? I got one.

There is a person on the M-14 Firing Line Forum selling a barrelled 7.62mm receiver:
