Problem with the big barrels is you cant lift or move them. I like smaller containers that the wife and I can move on our own without a forklift and 2500 truck.

I just bought a 55 gal food grade new water drum for $70.00 with pump and water treatment. They have from 5 t0 55 gal. containers. Here's a pic. I don't have anything to do with this company but they do have alot of good stuff. Since there is a shortage of #10 cans from mountain house at the moment i did buy some mountain house pouches also. The 55 gal. drum is new and seems strong. the only access to put water in is the 2 holes at the top that have threaded plugs and it comes with a pump, water treatment for 5 years, a bung wrench and plastic tops to seal the the plugs so nothing can get in. I did pick it up in Van Nuys. I only live 25 min. away.

I have bought and sold many of the "used once food grade" type drums.

A quick whiff from inside the barrel will usually confirm food grade contents as well as writing on the outside.

Treat and change the water yearly and you are good to go.

Checked out the sos site. Nice barrel, but shipping to me is $2 less than the barrel itself!! So I might go with Costco for a barrel and all the trappings, then find some local used 55g barrels as "backup".

Honeyville Farms in Cucamonga has new containers but they are pricey. The guy that was in Chino just moved to 8848 Remington in the Norco area near Limonite and Archibald. He has a wide range of sizes. 275 gallon $125. 30 gallon $15. Much more.

Can you give me his information? I'm in Sacramento and wherever he moved to doesn't ring a bell for me.

Norco <> Northern California, it's a city in the IE in SoCal.

More info would be great though, a couple 55 gallon drums in the garage would be a great addition for me.

I can vouch for SOS, I purchase from them regularly, both for personal equipment and for work. It's definitely worth checking out their parking lot sale, it's coming up on the 10th and 11th of June.... I'll be there Saturday

Try your local Feed Store. I have purchased several 55 gal barrells that came to the store full of dog food. They empty them then set them aside. One good rinse and then a wash with a bleach solution and you are all good. I got them for $15 each. I now have six and am 100% confident in my water supply!
