Got couple questions.

1. What's the benefits or features that the monolithic combo offering that are not availed with the purchasing of the upper monolithic and lower separatelly. The price of the combo is little bit higher.

2. Listed as forward assist installed. New to .308 platform, I don't see any forward assist in the pictures. The location of the forward assist not the same as ar15?

Thanks

There are a few benefits of the combo. First they are hand fit at the Mega factory. This ensures a tight and solid fit between the upper and lower. Second, the combo comes with a billet charging handle. This is something that is not included in the purchase of an upper and lower separately. Lastly, the pivot and take down pins are already installed in the combo. This just further solidifies the fitment between the upper and lower.

The forward assist specification was an error on our part. There is no FA on the Mega Monolithic Upper in the MA-Ten line.

I want to price out my build. What bolt and gas piston system would you recommend for this? I hear the 308 can get dirty with direct gas blowback.

FYI - is this still true?
the Mega Ma-Ten uses regular AR15 LPK with the exception of the bolt catch. They recommend a DPMS bolt catch.

calshooter1...at this point the .308 piston systems that are out there are proprietary to the rifles being put out (i.e., POF, LWRC, etc). I imagine that piston systems will hit the market soon.

Yes, the MA-Ten does use a regular LPK with the exception of the bolt catch. DPMS does make a good one.

Mega is in the middle of producing their new Ambi MA-Ten lowers. Just as soon as they are finished, they'll put out the combos.

From Mega's website:

Quote:
we are no longer manufacturing, or offering for sale, our MTS Monolithic upper receivers.

We recently became aware that a competitor is about to obtain a patent, and we believe that this competitor will assert its patent against us. We have strong defenses, but we are not a large company that can sustain ongoing litigation expenses.
