If its a digital lock there might be a default combo or sometimes the buttons most used on the keypad will show more wear than others. Might be able to narrow it down or help the previous owner remember the combo.
If it a dial, I think your SOL. Find out the cost to have a locksmith drill it out. Or take up safecracking as a new hobby!
Good luck!

if it's digital, there's a good chance that:
1: the code is 0000, 1234, 4321, or something really silly
2: the code is a date, meaning at least 2 digits in a 4 digit code (4 in a 6 digit code, and 6 in an 8 digit code because the 5th and 6th digits will likely be 19) will be in pairs with a value of less then 31

using that, you should be able to brute-force-attack it in a weekend of television.

(yes, I was a network admin... ;-)

Yeah, how long this thing been locked shut? Maybe full of pre-ban high-cap mags? Maybe a Bren Ten inside?
Let us know when you get it open.

I had a safe (not a Winchester) with no combo. Went on the web site and they needed a serial number, model and notarized letter saying I was the owner. $20 later and a few days I had the combo. Try this http://winchestersafes.com/combo%20request.pdf

Well, in the three hours 'twixt 8:30 and 11:30, the Winchesters had already been sold. Buf after whining and crying and shedding some fake man tears with the manager, they took me into the warehouse and found me another safe. So I ended up buying a near new kinda large-ish Protector Series First Alert Executive safe instead. It's the model #2730DFC, it's 21-1/2" X 27" X 59", weighs about 350 lbs. and holds 24 or 26 long guns. I can't fi d much info on it on the 'net though the owners manual was printed in 2010. And I got it for $150.00. I think I may have won one today, but I'll get some pics up tomorrow and see what y'all think.......

Interesting to see what this safe looks like and in that size for $150. Is it a combo lock or some kind of gun locker (no combo lock)?

Great deal for only $150. With a depth of less than "24 it should fit into most closets. The only thing that concerns me is the 16ga steel. Thats pretty thin. In fact I always thought a gunsafe had to be 12ga min. to get DOJ approval but I guess not. Bolt it down to prevent someone from stealing the whole safe from you. 300+ pounds seems like a lot but one guy with a hand-truck could run off with it.
Thanks for sharing!
