IIRC they said they were re-designing it and nothing ever came of it

they got pulled right before I started looking for a RDS for my AK. I thought about looking for a used one, but I didnt have any luck, so I settled on a Kobra.

If I remember right, the original was designed around a lower 1/3 cowitness using the original Fastfire sight. When the Fastfire II came out, it used a slightly redesigned arrangment of it's electronics and it's height was slightly raised. Not a big deal for the average user, but it moved it high enough that cowitness was no longer possible with the Irondot design without modification of other parts as well. LaRue halted production to redesign it and allow it to work with the newer Fastfire II. Nothing has since come of it so it's either not a priority or a design work around could not be reached.

The Kobra is one of several collimating red dots designed by former USSR countries. It's essentially the Soveit's answer to the Aimpoint.

I really do wish they would bring back the irondot, even without the co-witness.

I just don't like the look of rails on an AK, and I've never been able to get a solid cheek weld with a side-rail mounted optic.

If anyone reads this and has one they want to sell then let me know
