Default Looking for (cheap) Rifle Safe

Anyone got any ideas for another rifle safe. Doesn't have to be anything too fancy - just enough to satisfy CA law.

Restriction from wife says it should cost < $500.

American Security (30 minute fire proof)12 gun safe was $300 out the door (electronic lock) or
Home Depot had something similar, too.

that's as cheap as it gets. i got one a couple months ago...

won't stop a determined thief, and 0 fire protection. It's main function is to keep the kids and drunk friends out of your guns

it *is* doj approved though, so make sure to keep the recipt

Another option:

No fire protection and only slightly better break-in protection than the cabinet linked to in the last post, but it's a lot better than hiding your guns under the bed, or in the closet somewhere...

This one holds about 6-7 rifles and several handguns on the top shelf.

get a used AMSEC or something. $500 will go a long ways if you can find the estate sale before the gunstore gets it. The 70's and 80's vintage ones don't have a fire liner, but the doors are 5/16 or a 1/4 plate and all around as about as heavy as any other gun safe.
