Default Why is it so hard for dealers to get Glocks right now?

Im trying to get a Glock 34 for 3-gun and no one has them and no one can even order them. I tried ammo bros, turners and martin b retting. Any idea what the story is?

AAnyone know who has new ones in stock?

Yep, if you want to drive down, Glockstore does have one in stock. I fondled it the other day.

It's a gen3 with the newer gray finish. If it would have had the old finish I would have bought it.

Is that because the finish is now applyed in the States..?..different than the overseas (Austria) factory..?...

I am picking up a new Glock 35 on Monday in San Marcos at Turners. (in jail now)

I think the finish is the same. However I did see another GLOCK that looked completely different.

weird..

I've been on the new finish debate for a while now. From everything I can gather, it's not an American finish thing. Glock has decided to change the finch from the "Teflon" one to a duller one. The Tennifer is still there, just no teflon finish. I prefer the older more durable one.

My FFL told me there is some special deal from Glock at the shot show that if they buy a certain amount of Glocks, they will get a Glock for free and so that's why there's a temporary shortage of new Glocks. He told me he heard of a guy who wanted to buy his first gun (a Glock 17) and since there wasn't one readily available he paid $150 over normal price to the dealer he bought it from just to get one right now.

I wasn't looking for a Glock because I have enough already, but he casually mentioned it the other day, so I paraphrased what he told me. I might have some of the details mixed up, but he's a FFL that I can trust what he says.

I want to find an OD G19.

Glockmeister had them (in AZ) and now they only have it if you buy the crimson trace with it :[

Ok so I found a used glock 34 for the same price as that new one with the gray finish down at glockstore. Now the double drive to sd will add $100 to the price. Which should I get?

Im hesitant about buying used guns in general. Who knows how many rds have been through them...

Well Bobby,

In regards to used guns, you have to look at from this prospective:
Guy goes shooting with his friends
Guy think it's cool, so he gets a gun
Guy goes shooting, realizing it's expensive
Guy puts gun in safe
Guy meets Girl
Girl say... Oooo you have a gun in the house...
Guy marries Girl
they have a Baby
Girl does not want guns in the house
Guy puts gun up for sale.

In most cases, that gun is lucky to see 500 rounds or more. Glocks tend to last 40,000-60,000 rounds. Tall tell signs is the front of the barrel, where the slide meets, the more wear, the more the gun's been shot...

The above scenerio is about 80% accurate to some degree...
Now if you were to buy the gun cheap which is fully decked out upgraded to the max from a 3 gun competitor or Steel shooter, then I would be concern as those guys keep their guns clean but you have to ask the question, why would he sale one of his Tools.. answer.. because he is nearing the 40,000-50,000 round mark and time to get another one... the old style teflon is really tough and hard to wear...

Any better luck finding a G35? You could get the Lone Wolf 40-9mm conversion barrel and change out extractor and ejector and you'd essentially have a 34. And nothing wrong with buying used.

And I'd also consider the G17, which is damn close to the G34 minus the additional sight radius. You could shoot the G17 in everything (IDPA, USPSA, 3Gun) and when a G34 is available, grab it and save your G17 for some Tac pistol classes. The G17 is an outstanding pistol.

I bought 3 glocks in the last two months. I was at a Glock dealer a few days ago. They have every single model available ( at least 50 glocks in stock). People love to spread rumor because their favorite store doesnt have any Glock left. I can walk into a store and DROS 5 glocks at the same time without any problem.

Try these guys http://www.sportingarms.com/results....=FIND+FIREARMS

They will ship to California, and you can use a Visa to pay for it.

I do not know if they have one in stock, but it shows a Glock 34 w/10rd for $606.

Thanks bongos. I was wondering why someone would sell a g34 to a shop in the first place. Its a gun for a specific purpose. Joe blow with the babys momma woulda got a g17 i would think. On the other hand, if it was an experienced shooter why would he take 2 or 3 hundo from a dealer when his trigger job alone prolly cost that much and he could get alot more selling to someone directly on calguns or gunbroker or whatever? Doesnt make sense. Ill go tomorrow and examine the one that's used.

Hey phong. Can I use the g34 for uspsa and idpa tactical/limited? I ended up being convinced by the threads I posted on the 3 gun page. Haha. I do want that extra sight radius and 9mm is so much cheaper to shoot. Just gotta get a new die set for my dillon 650.

Those guys who claim their dealer has a full stock please identify the dealer.

Most stores only carry one or two glocks per model (if you get lucky). It is impossible for them to stock every single model. Give Glock a call and ask for GSSF dealers. Those guys usually have a lot of Glocks in stock.

Absolutely! You can use the G17 or G34 almost everywhere.. 3-Gun Tactical Optics, 3-Gun Limited, USPSA Production, and IDPA SSP. If you only had to buy 1 handgun, get the G34. If you can't find a G34, get the G17 so you can start shooting 9mm sooner. When you're first starting out, it does not make much difference.

So if the used one is hardly used and has the old teflon coat, should I get that instead of the new one with the gray finish?

Glock discontinued the OD frames in June/July 2010.

Shops haven't been able to get them for a while.

You might get lucky and find one that's been collecting dust, but not likely.

Yeah, Glock quit making the OD frames because they didn't sell well enough, and now everyone wants one it seems. Go figure. If you can't find one in a shop now, don't expect to again unless Glock decides to make more of them in the future.

I've also not seen a shortage of Glocks either. I've seen plenty at shops in the bay area so there's hardly a shortage. Although if you're talking about the 34/35 it's possible the distributors just aren't stocking large numbers of them at a time since they aren't exactly the most popular models.

man you are freaking out over this 34! You'd even spend $100 in gas to buy a used one but you're worried about what finish WE think YOU should get? Calm down, step away from the FUD and give it a couple weeks. Contact david tom @goingquiet or other vendors on here and have one shipped to your local ffl.

Mag360 you need to settle down buddy. There's nothing unreasonable about any of my questions. That's what this forum is here for. For us to ask for peoples opinions in order to better inform our decisions.

And you don't need to use caps. My eyes are just fine.

Well, I am an FFL and the guy behind the counter. So Rollingcode3 can be in his own little word while I talk.

From what I've been told by my primary Glock distributor (Ellett Brothers) every Glock shipment that is sent to the US has to be signed off by the Mr. Gaston Glock. And with all the rush on orders (SHOT especially), he hasn't signed off on as many as we'd like yet. My distributor is waiting on Glock, I'm waiting on my distributor, and you're all waiting on me. It's a suck cycle. They will be back soon, the US just isn't getting enough right now.

PS: I know you're ALL not waiting on ME, just said that for sake of argument.

Thanks kevin. That matches what someone else said about the shot show offer. I guess their promotion was too good for their own good!

And I never had any reason not to trust the dealers I buy from. I always check with them first out of customer loyalty.

One reason is that the gen 4 Glocks are now out and Ca. is not going to get any.So what ever is left of gen 3 that is it. My friend who is a dealer was told that by Glock sales rep at the shot show.
