Default 2 Bore double rifle

Under construction right now by a guy in Kansas (Edit, I'm not building this. I don't have the tools or knowledge level required) a 2 bore double rifle, it should fiinsh out at 32 -34 Lbs when done. It has a 1.310 bore, 1.325 groove 1:48 and chambered for the 2 Bore S&H brass.

The lead ball in the right hand barrel is .50 caliber!

IIRC the bore is 1.32" and you have to get a waiver from the BATF to qualify it for sporting purposes.

4 Bore. Six ounce slug. Thought it exploded when it went off.

No one. The cases are individually made on a lathe and everything is handloaded from there.

X-New Yawker you're tougher then me. I topped out at a 600 NE, I have no desire to try anything larger.

I am with you, I have no desire to shoot a four bore or larger. With that kind of recoil, and anticipation, what distance is the actual accuracy for a rifle like that? I am sure the rifle is plenty accurate, the shooter is the big ?

who is this for. I remember seeing a thread( i tihnk from the high road) where a guy was making his own single shot rifle from scratch. Using his own furnace and everything. It was awesome to see it in progress but i have no idea where i found it from.

Id shot it...only 1 barrel though, i dont want no double trigger and accidently shot both off at once.

It has to shoot minute of elephant. Basically it has to hit a football sized target (brain) at 25 yards. I imagine that anything close to putting both barrels into 2-3 inches at 50 yards would satisfy most elephant hunters. Hunting elephant is an up close and personal sport with most hunters going for a brain shot inside of about 25 yards or so.

Any sort of muzzle brake or anything like that?

What material are the barrel and the projos made out of?

Looks interesting but I dont want to go after anything that requires a gun that big.

Those bores are huge. I wonder how the recoil would be like on a small frame guy like me. It would be interesting to see the report.

It's a win Fjold.

You do not put muzzle brakes on double rifles.

Barrels are just standard barrel steel, probably a 4140 chrome-moly alloy. The projectiles can be hardened lead or lathe turned copper or brass solids.

Holy smokes!

Any idea on what the powder charge would be for each load?

Muzzle velocity and or energy of the round leaving the barrel?
