Besides, where's the info on your website regarding your position on gun control? Simply saying that "Californians have a right to keep and bear arms, no exceptions." comes across as being a "safe" neutral statement. It doesn't really say much to me. Tell me what you really think about California's firearms laws, their effect on the average everyday Joe Citizen, and what you'd do about it. Where do you stand on the issue of CCW? Do you know anything about the off-list lower situation and the actions the DOJ has been taking regarding it? Are you aware of what had been going on with AB352, the microstamping legislation? How about AB2728? Lots of other issues that I'm sure the CalGuns members would like to hear discussed, since you seem to be the first politician to openly venture onto our board. I'm sure that there is potential to drum up quite a bit of grassroots supporters here. BUT..... If you want my vote, you're going to have to earn it.

since you say arnold is anti gun because of the .50 ban. he signed and that is history. unforntunately voting for you will not help us either. while i commend your commitment to our rights i cannot vote for you. the democratic opponent will win and we will lose our rights probably before his first term is out. this is not tinfoil hat just my opinion of the man.
i would love to see a true friend of gun owners in office i have to say my vote is for arnold. yes he has signed some bad laws and i can't forgive him for that but he will veto alot of bad bills that reach his desk. sorry Mr. Olivier i cannot vote for you considering what is at stake here in california. we are close to losing it all if angeledes gets elected with the current legislature in office. good luck to you sir. and thanks for taking the time to talk to us.

I would like to know what kind of experience this guy has in government. I looked over his site and I can't find anything stating that he has any experience at all. Mayor, Senator, Class President, Anything? He seems to have a lot of great ideas about how things should be in this state, but without an intimate knowledge of the inner workings of government and how to get things done it all amounts to nothing. More info and background would be great.

Do you feel the aw bans in California should follow the federal governments lead when it comes to the AW sunset ? and would you support this ?
At the moment do you still have LASD / LASO ? I worked in Belflower in the early 80's. Not really a place I would want to raise a family. Maybe we could get Arnold to come on here and debate you on the issues. Are you willing to be held responsible for the things you agree to and as they are called campaign promises ? Mr Olivier, I'd like to thank you for answering the questions which were put to you, in such a prompt manner.
Your initial post(s) struck me the wrong way and seemed to be nothing more than an attempt at free advertising on a message board. I will admit to being (pleasantly) surprised that you returned to address everyone's questions. While I still stand behind my position that you will have to earn my vote, your responses have made me seriously look over your website. I hope that you take the time to look around here at CalGuns, particularly in the "Legal Gun-Related Discussion" section, in order to see what we are all about. A candidate who is willing to take a stand against the ongoing gun control issues in California might find quite a few strong supporters here. Looking forward to more discussion regarding your stance on numerous issues.

Are you going to attempt to have the "safe gun" requirement removed or repealed? This is nothing but State extortion of gun companies when LEO's can get anything they want, even if it's "unsafe" for us civilians. Also, any laws that restrict what we may have as handguns, ammuntion, or requirements that would limit capacity? You should be able to buy as many handguns as you like, of whatever you like, as this once a month and 10 day wait is ridiculous. I can see a wait for the very 1st gun you buy, anything after that, it's senseless, we already have one to do damage with, two or more isn't going to make us insane. Next, will you repeal the AW ban that currently exists, not part, all? The rest of the nation is free to buy what ever they please, including Class 3, will that be a possiblility here in CA if you're elected? Next, will you remove the requirement for a CCW "permit"? The 2nd amendment is what it is "Shall Not Be Infringed", if we want to carry either openly or concealed it would be our choice, not the state's. Look at Vermont, there is nothing in their Constitution concerning the 2A as is ours and because of that fact, they are allowed to carry openly or concealed without permits, LEGALLY. Have a great Kenpo day Clyde P.S. great vid BTW http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9eIS...%20our%20state Last edited by KenpoProfessor; 09-04-2006 at 3:41 PM. |

Since when has it been legal for a citizen to buy a class 3 (fully automatic) firearm?
http://www.guncite.com/gun_control_gcfullau.html "It has been unlawful since 1934 (The National Firearms Act) for civilians to own machine guns without special permission from the U.S. Treasury Department. Machine guns are subject to a $200 tax every time their ownership changes from one federally registered owner to another, and each new weapon is subject to a manufacturing tax when it is made, and it must be registered with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (BATF) in its National Firearms Registry. To become a registered owner, a complete FBI background investigation is conducted, checking for any criminal history or tendencies toward violence, and an application must be submitted to the BATF including two sets of fingerprints, a recent photo, a sworn affidavit that transfer of the NFA firearm is of "reasonable necessity," and that sale to and possession of the weapon by the applicant "would be consistent with public safety." The application form also requires the signature of a chief law enforcement officer with jurisdiction in the applicant's residence. Since the Firearms Owners' Protection Act of May 19, 1986, ownership of newly manufactured machine guns has been prohibited to civilians. Machine guns which were manufactured prior to the Act's passage are regulated under the National Firearms Act, but those manufactured after the ban cannot ordinarily be sold to or owned by civilians." You guys should be asking this guy if he is in favor of any more gun control laws. Certainly, the 10 round limitation is totally insane and should be repealed. Calling a 11+ round magazine loaded in to a firearm an "assault weapon" is unbelieveable. To me, an assault weapon is a fully automatic pistol or rifle, something outlawed many years ago. Also, you should be asking him about the current laws requiring drop testing as this has severely limited the sale of high quality firearms here in CA like all of the previously manufactured Smith and Wesson Performance Center double action pistols. Furthermore, manufacturers are already required to drop test their firearms anyway. |

I am planning on voting for Mr. Olivier for Governor.
Even though I agree there's a slight chance of "splitting the vote" and allowing Angelides to win, I think it's a chance worth taking. Arnold has sold us out. He waited until after the primary and then did a 180 on illegal immigration. He's moving further and further to the left every time he opens his mouth. If we're going to have a Socialist for our next Governor, then by God let's have a real Socialist. Let the people in this state see what happens when we have a mexican Socialist Legislature and Governor. In four years, our economy will be wrecked, and just maybe that would start a sea change... get redistricting reform passed and turn the tables. If not, screw it... I can always pack up and leave. In any case, I think it's time for a third party to get some more recognition. The traditional two party system isn't working. Neither party really represents the average American. BTW, I also plan to vote for Tom McClintoc for Lt. Governor. Not because he's a Republican, but because he's an admirable man who happens to be a Republican. An (R) party affiliation means less and less to me each time I go to vote.

I would do the same for federal gun laws except our state laws are worse than the federal ones. |

Art, you look good to me too.
I am not sure that you can get in though. You may have too much common sense. It looks like your views are apolitical. In other words, you choose the best decision based on LOGIC not EMOTION. Emotion is the downfall of politics. |

I like what Mr. Oliver has to say but am still curious of what impact he will make in the coming election. I was unaware of him till now. Should my curiosity be peaked he will get my vote.

Mr. Olivier, I hope that you be able to get to debate Arnie and Angelides on a televised segment. I think that with what you have said so far you would do well in aquiring votes. I think a majority of the people of this state are tired of the status quo and would really get behind someone who is really willing to make a change and use common sense to do it. For as long as I can remember people have been voting for the least of 2 evils. You, sir, have my vote and I will do my best to get you more. Thank you
