Default Barrel and trigger polishing

Hey all, looking for some work on glock barrels and/or internals. Willing to meet up if you're local, or you can ship the parts separate from the gun. If you want the barrel polished, i'll generally throw in polish of the pins and slide lock, also the trigger and all internal surfaces for free, basically anywhere metal contacts metal. It smooths up the trigger pull noticeably. $80 for the barrel. This will not penetrate the Tenifer treatment to the steel of the barrel, which is not a coating or a finish. It will only remove the black coating, so rust protection isn't an issue.

I can also provide the same polishing treatment to other barrels as well, see further down in the thread for examples.

Do not round over the corners on the rear of the trigger bar or the Upkick where it contacts the striker. Those edges need to be sharp or you are reducing alot of contact area and asking for trouble.

Yeah definitely. I do all that carefully by hand, mainly with q-tips.

looks good. Great polishing job. i gave up trigger work/polishing innerds yrs ago, for obvious reasons. I have done most of my own firearms only because I know i wont file suit against myself.

Wow that's amazing. Is this a chemical treatment? Or are you just holding it to a buffing wheel? Wouldn't grinding near the bore affect accuracy? Seems like cleaning would be easier afterwards - no?

The only chemical that gets used is vinegar to soften up the black coating. The rest is done mainly by hand, no bench grinders here, lots and lots of elbow grease.

The shine is a product of the flatness of the surface of the metal, so it will last until the metal is scratched, and scratches can be buffed out. The Tenifer is still intact, so the steel isn't any softer.

howdy Dustin, hope you don't mind I whore the pictures of my Kimber barrel you completed.

I asked him if he'd be interested in tackling my Kimber Ultra Carry barrel and he was up for the challenge. We agreed on more of a two tone look (as you'll see with the original). There were some rough areas (pits, scratches, etc) but most, if not all of them are undetectable. He did a fantastic job and couldn't have asked for a more perfect look to my little safe queen. pictures down below.. thanks again DR

Original... iPhone picture, sorry!

Afters!

How much would you charge to just do the trigger bar and connector for a Glock?

Just out of curiosity, what sort of tools/materials are you using to polish with? How much material is removed in the polishing process? Does it affect the lockup of the barrel at all?

This won't affect the barrel lockup. I use nothing more abrasive than 600 grit sandpaper for any heavy machine marks. Glocks usually don't have too much of that so for the most part it's 1500 grit, then on to polishing. I polish mostly by hand with rags, though i will sometimes use a low speed drill with a cloth buffing wheel. Doesn't run into the problems that the Dremels do with their high RPM's. Very little material is removed and accuracy is not affected.

Cool! Very nice work, by the way! I have a Kimber Pro-Carry barrel with a couple of tiny rust marks that I wanted to polish out myself, that's why I asked.

Just be aware that any polishing or even light sanding of a rust mark will probably leave a different finish than the surrounding areas. If you're unable to blend them well you may have to do the whole barrel.

It should stay looking good, there should be minimal contact with the barrel and the slide on the top area there as the barrel drops down when the lugs disconnect from the slide. I have a RIA .45 with a polished barrel, and my Glock is polished too, haven't had any issues with scuffs appearing on either, or had any complaints from other barrels i've done. Price would be $100
