Default Sparrowhawk fake M14 selector switches

I know that the M14 fake selector switches that sparrowhawk makes are legal. Has anyone here, with the fake selector installed, gotten into trouble with officials at the range? I am thinking of installing one of these on my M1A rifle. I want to know what kinds of responses I will be getting. I usually go to the Sunnyvale Rod and Gun Club and Chabot to shoot. Any idea whether I might ecounter problems at these ranges?

I don't see where Chabot would give you any trouble. They've always told me "as long as it's pointed downrange and you're aiming..." and as long as you're not rapid-firing. They're mainly looking at open chamber/removed mag. The RO might ask if it's really FA, but I'd be surprised if he did.

Not unless you run into some stubborn SOB with a stick up his butt. The RO's at chabot have never struck me as such.

Most people couldn't tell you the difference between an M1A and an M14s external appearance. Those that can will quickly be dissapointed to find out that when you pop out the trigger group, the rifle is semi only.

It is legal, and it is easy to show someone it is legal. I have one and have had zero problems. Toss it in and go to town.

I don't think you would have any trouble at the range, but I don't recommend them. I tried one and it caused nothing but trouble. Likewise, a friend bought a rifle with one and when he started having trouble, we realised it was the fake selector. Once we pulled it off the rifle, the trouble went away.

My problem was I could not get it installed to the point the action would fit smoothly in the stock. My friends rifle would not let the bolt fully close because the bolt carrier was binding in the front.

Your experience may be different. If you like it and it works, go for it. Personally, I don't like the hole in the side of my USGI stocks. I just haven't taken the time to fill them in yet.
