Default About the ammo ban here in ca (AB 962)

Why have lots places have already ban all sales of ammo. I thought from what i read it was only going to be hand gun ammo effected on Feb. 1 2011.

Does anyone have the real scoop on this? Any links for this ammo ban post them. Thanks. Yes i stocked up like mad and wrote letters to try and have this lame law changed.

The concern is with the shippers. This is to make absolutely sure that no ammunition crosses state lines after February 1st.

And there is no 'ammo ban' - there's a requirement that handgun ammunition transfers happen face to face, and that FFL sellers collect information and a fingerprint.

Moved.

Outside vendors are not reading your post. As far as they are concerned its an "ammo ban".

Yup, that's the problem. After all the AB962 threads in the handgun sections lately, I'm pretty sure most Calgunners are educated in the fact that it isn't actually an ammo ban, but the retailers outside of CA don't know that, and all they care about is not getting audited and shut down for breaking another one of CA's stupid worthless laws.

No amount of saying "It isn't an ammo ban" on CGN will amount to anything if the out of state retailers aren't educated on the language of the statute and can be convinced that they are still allowed to sell to us, provided they would like to go through the additional hoops.

Share with all your out of state sellers. CGF had a little project to do that ...

It is NOT a ban.

HEROIN is banned.

MURDER is banned.

Handgun ammunition, whatever that turns out to be, is legal to buy, sell, own, possess and use. That's not a ban.

Yes...and the Nazis used to tell (insert your chosen minority) they were going to receive showers after they strip down.

For all intents and purposes, this is a ban. This is the Deleon bandaid to correct gaping economic disparity in LA. Yay. And the good people suffer.
