Default Help add to this list of Sacramento gun shops

This is the best FFL finding tool I've seen online, as far as I can tell they're pretty up to date:

http://fflgundealers.net/

They list everyone, shops, kitchen table FFLs, etc.

Sacramento Area Gun Shops

M & J Guns on 23rd and J street in Sacramento
2330 J St
Sacramento, CA 95815
916-320-6429

A new shop downtown. Sac City will probably try and prevent any new gun shops in city limits so this might be the last Sac City gun shop to open this Century. Haven't been inside yet. Can anyone tell us what the shop and the staff are like?

River City Gun Exchange
2370 Fruitridge Road
Sacramento, CA
(916) 428-0377

Favorite Sac gun shop. Very Black Rifle Friendly, lots of consignments, knowledgeable staff. Closed Sundays and Mondays, usually crowded, bring your patience with you. Usually has an ad in the Sac Bee. ***** "Knowledgeable staff, but the reps' patience level can vary depending on who you get. They like to share knowledge, but some of the staff get annoyed by "dumb" questions. Black gun friendly and knowledgeable about 922r. They have some used firearms. Prices of the new stuff is slightly below anybody else in the area, but the used stuff seems high."

Just Guns
3538 Auburn Blvd
Sacramento, CA 95821
916-486-4867
http://www.justgunsstore.com

Opened a year and a half ago, big open shop, helpful staff. I like the store, haven't bought a gun there yet. ***** "Just Guns - I PPT there, they are very fair and have a great layout. They are friendly to black rifles but I don't recall any in stock or on display." ***** "Customer was better when they first opened. Now, it's a crapshoot too. Selection is okay, but I expect them to increase as the business picks up. The last time I was there, about a month ago, they added a black rifle section and a gunsmith in the back. Prices are slightly higher than other shops that have been around a while."

Sacramento Black Rifle
6671 Blue Oaks Blvd #
Rocklin, CA
(916) 771-3553 ‎
http://www.sacramentoblackrifle.com

A newer gun store, usually has an ad in the Sac Bee ***** "Sacramento Black Rifle didn't have their FFL yet when I last visited. (They have FFL now) If previous performance is any indication, they'll likely have a great selection of AR's. They've always been busy when I've gone in, even during the week." ***** "Awesome guys with great guns. They had a location in Citrus Heights for a few years. Over there they had a few pistols and I think they were exclusively black rifle for long guns. Haven't been to their new location."

TDS Guns
4881 Granite Drive
Rocklin, CA
(916) 660-9091 ‎
http://tdsguns.com/store/

A newer gun store, usually has an ad in the Sac Bee ***** "TDS Guns has a really good selection, brightly light and clean store. Staff are very approachable and are very involved in 2nd amendment issues. Always busy, but very well staffed." "Another good shop, 5% off with a military ID. I haven't seen them not crowded, they have a good selection of handguns and rifles." ***** "Great customer service with the more mature reps. Big handgun selection, very good tactical rifle selection. Prices are good with hot-selling items. Knowledgeable staff, especially the more mature guys."

Sportsman's Warehouse
6640 Lonetree Boulevard
Rocklin, CA
(916) 782-9900 ‎

Big, big box store. Feels a little like Disneyland for outdoors people. Big selection of firearms, friendly knowledgeable staff. ***** "Sportsman's Warehouse is a box store, but this one tends to be more informed and friendly than many others, including Cabela's and BassPro. No OLL's and their stock really fluctuates. They've pulled some of the best gun salesmen away from their hunting store competitors and it shows in their customer service." "They are more friendly than what you'd expect from a warehouse. They are much more hunter driven as they don't FFL for black rifles per company policy. I found some amazing ammo prices in their bulk pile. They also of a good assortment of reloading supplies." ***** "I don't know what's up, but they had a bigger selection of handguns before. Now their handgun selection is about half and don't carry much of anything I would be interested in. They seem to be a sporting/hunting shop, therefore there are no black rifles. Knowledge of the reps vary greatly, but customer service is better on weekdays than weekends. Prices are slightly higher than Wild Sports, which is odd for being a chain store."

CS Tactical
9174 Franklin Blvd. Suite B
Elk Grove, CA 95758
916-670-1103
http://www.cstactical.com

Brand new shop at Franklin and Laguna

Elk Grove, California
916-714-4867

Big, brightly lit shop, one of the only indoor ranges around. (See Jane Magnan Range below.) You can shoot handgun caliber rifles and shotguns. Big selection of guns. I've had good service there, some on CalGuns have complaints. ***** "Customer service is hit and miss, with most cases being a miss. Prices are higher than others, but they do have a big selection. I go there to handle guns then shop around for a better price. I don't believe they sell any more black rifles."

Two stores, Citrus Heights and Hwy 50 at Bradshaw. Did a swift and easy PPT there just a couple of weeks ago, nice, well stocked store.

Wild Bill's

Elk Grove, CA
(916) 686-7699 ‎
https://plus.google.com/101985299907...ut?gl=us&hl=en

Small shop, lots of Western / SASS sort of stuff, used leather holsters and belts. Big local NRA supporter. Just a block away from The Gun Room. ***** "Wild Bill's carries a LOT more than just cowboy stuff now. He's got stuff on the wall I wouldn't expect to see in an average California gun store. Branden's store is the only reason I'm willing to drive through Elk Grove anymore. They're not condescending towards women either, which is a very big deal to me." ***** "Good customer service. Prices are average. They have one of most things, but not a whole lot of one thing. If you want to straight-up sell a firearm and not deal with consignment, this would be the place -- he gives the best prices."

Nice looking shop, only been by once.

Elkhorn Bait and Tackle
6745 20th Street
Rio Linda, CA
(916) 991-5298 ‎
http://www.yellowpages.com/rio-linda...ackle-14628756

Crowded, lots of fishing gear, lots of gun, not real friendly the couple of times I've been in. ***** "Cocky but knowledgeable staff. Crowded. Years ago, he gave me a discount without me even asking when I went back for a 3rd firearm. Prices are right around MSRP. I don't recall seeing any black rifles."

Wild Sports
9396 Greenback Lane
Orangevale, CA
(916) 988-5375
http://www.wild-sports.com/aboutus/

Big store, half hunting, half fishing. Really big gun selection, sometimes has good ammo sales. I've bought a couple of guns there and they were just fine to deal with. Some CalGunners have posted complaints. ***** "I've been there multiple times over the years. I know they've been around at least 15 years. They are more driven towards hunters but they usually have an SA M1A and the occassional SOCOM II. If you know what you want and what you are talking about they tend to be friendlier, but even then it is hit and miss. The last time I was there they were being inspected so I didn't hang around too long." ***** "As someone already said, they have become cocky as they have been in business for some time now. I still find some reps to be friendly in the handgun and shotgun area. Prices for in-stock items can be lower than other shops, however they will not give prices over the phone. Selection is just a little above average, but they are not black rifle friendly."

Toro Arms $50 Transfers!
1100 Main Street
#310
Woodland, CA 95695
Phone: 530-406-0610
http://www.yellowpages.com/woodland-...-arms-23268870

New Update, they closed their store and now just work out of a small office, do transfers and orders from distributors. Limited hours but will work with you to meet your schedule, give them a call. New # is 530-406-0610 Good people! Arturo and his young family, sometimes you can hear kids when they answer the phone.

Their office is just down the hall from a county court room in leased office space. Don't feel paranoid carrying new guns past the courtroom doors!

Haven't been in the store, small shop on Main street. ***** "I need to add a little to Toro Arms. Great people there. I was running out of time and ran in the store 15 minutes before they closed. They allowed me to get through my paper work and start my 10 day wait even though I wasn't finished until 10 minutes after closing. They then told me what the end of my 10 days would be and then mentioned to call before I leave to pick it up so someone could hang around after closing so I could come in to pick it up. This was very generous considering they are open the next morning." ***** "DROS plus $25."

J and G Guns
7680 Barton Road
Granite Bay, CA
(916) 782-7075
http://www.jandggunsmithing.com

Haven't been there. ***** "J and G are a great consignment store. It's been six months since I've visited and they didn't carry OLL's at all, but if you want older domestic firearms they are THE place to go in Sac Metro." ***** "I talked to a few people from J&G at the Big Reno Show in '09. They were really helpful and nice. Haven't made it over to their store yet."

***** Continued in Post #43 (got too long when I added to it)*****

Yes, the shop is small, but there are still a few things in store and they can get most firearms at your request. Their prices are also consistently lower than others.

Just Guns - I PPT there, they are very fair and have a great layout. They are friendly to black rifles but I don't recall any in stock or on display.

Sacramento Black Rifle
Awesome guys with great guns. They had a location in Citrus Heights for a few years. Over there they had a few pistols and I think they were exclusively black rifle for long guns. Haven't been to their new location.

TDS Guns
Another good shop, 5% off with a military ID. I haven't seen them not crowded, they have a good selection of handguns and rifles.

Sportsman's Warehouse
They are more friendly than what you'd expect from a warehouse. They are much more hunter driven as they don't FFL for black rifles per company policy. I found some amazing ammo prices in their bulk pile. They also of a good assortment of reloading supplies.

Have bought several guns from Wild Sports (2 pistols, rifle, shotgun) but it seems they get more arrogant the longer they stay in business.

I never go there any more...with the ability to find accessories over the web, who needs the aggravation?

I've never been to Norse's store in Woodland, but I've seen them at every local gun show and highly recommend checking them out. Good guys and they deal straight.

The rest I've either never visited or have nothing nice to say. Thankfully, there are many more of the former than the latter.

Great Stuff!

Keep them coming please.

Does anyone know of some more reliable FFLs for out of state transfers at good prices?

Any pawn shops that deal with guns other than Buy Sell Trade It All?

Is The Gun Room the only indoor range around Sacramento?

Golden State Tactical has a flat $60 FFL transfer fee and he's happy to do it.

Mangan is also indoor, but it's a county run range and is only open on select days.

If I'm looking for a new or good used gun:
Rancho Cordova Guns And Ammo. They've been VERY good to me for almost 20 years...

For a consignment gun:
River City Gun Exchange. Had good experiences with them.

A receiving/shipping FFL for something I found/sold on the Internet:
Snellings Firearms. Very good at the services he offers and a great guy to get to know...

All the phones/address of these three places are listed above...

J&G is a great place, especially for consignment guns. You can find good deals there.

I'll add my two pennies.

Elkhorn Bait and Tackle
Cocky but knowledgeable staff. Crowded. Years ago, he gave me a discount without me even asking when I went back for a 3rd firearm. Prices are right around MSRP. I don't recall seeing any black rifles.

The Gun Room
Customer service is hit and miss, with most cases being a miss. Prices are higher than others, but they do have a big selection. I go there to handle guns then shop around for a better price. I don't believe they sell any more black rifles.

Just Guns
Customer was better when they first opened. Now, it's a crapshoot too. Selection is okay, but I expect them to increase as the business picks up. The last time I was there, about a month ago, they added a black rifle section and a gunsmith in the back. Prices are slightly higher than other shops that have been around a while.

River City Gun Exchange
Knowledgeable staff, but the reps' patience level can vary depending on who you get. They like to share knowledge, but some of the staff get annoyed by "dumb" questions. Black gun friendly and knowledgeable about 922r. They have some used firearms. Prices of the new stuff is slightly below anybody else in the area, but the used stuff seems high.

Sacramento Black Rifle
Very few selections, but they carry a wide selection of accessories. They had two handfuls of AR's but only a couple handguns. They had armor on display, which you don't normally see around here. Customer service was good, but I've been there only once.

Sportsman's Warehouse
I don't know what's up, but they had a bigger selection of handguns before. Now their handgun selection is about half and don't carry much of anything I would be interested in. They seem to be a sporting/hunting shop, therefore there are no black rifles. Knowledge of the reps vary greatly, but customer service is better on weekdays than weekends. Prices are slightly higher than Wild Sports, which is odd for being a chain store.

TDS Guns
Great customer service with the more mature reps. Big handgun selection, very good tactical rifle selection. Prices are good with hot-selling items. Knowledgeable staff, especially the more mature guys.

Wild Bill's
Good customer service. Prices are average. They have one of most things, but not a whole lot of one thing. If you want to straight-up sell a firearm and not deal with consignment, this would be the place -- he gives the best prices.

Wild Sports
As someone already said, they have become cocky as they have been in business for some time now. I still find some reps to be friendly in the handgun and shotgun area. Prices for in-stock items can be lower than other shops, however they will not give prices over the phone. Selection is just a little above average, but they are not black rifle friendly.

If your old enough to know.

I remember shopping in Sims Hardware with my parents - was it on J and 17th where the used record store is now? Seemed like everything in it was 50 years old. I was but a lad at the time and I do not remember that they sold guns.

It was on J closer to Alhambra. I think around 27th or 28th streets.

As for the in memoriam list

There were several more:

Fox Shooters Supply on North Watt
John Q's
Murphy's
Great Guns same location as Just Guns

there were others

Just Guns is WAYYY expensive, your "grate" deal probably wasn't as great as you think.

Updated new comments to list.

Anybody know of another pawn shop that deals with guns in the Sacramento area? Only one I know about is Buy Trade Sell It All on Stockton Blvd, near Fruitridge.

Any other FFLs that you have had business with and can recommend?

I'd like to know too, but I think they might be the only one.

Great List-Thanks for putting this together as I am newbie having just bought my first pistol.

I'll add Personal Defense Weapons in EL Dorado Hills. Run by two Sac Co. Sheriff who were very helpful. Smaller shop with new and consignment. Their prices seemed high and I bought my gun elsewhere.

I'm not sure about their other services as I am just not familiar with the lingo.

What about other ranges? anything off 50 besides Rancho? Even toward Placerville

thanks

Another one for in memoriam:

Christie's (if your old enough to remember, was located at 56th and H where the antique stores are now. There's a two-lane underground range there leading to the railroad tracks)

Welcome to CalGuns Rustyone!

I'm going to draw my Sacramento Area line at Folsom and leave off El Dorado Hills.

There are a couple of ranges out that way.

El Dorado Rod and Gun Club http://www.eldoradorodandgun.com/

and

The Folsom Shooting Club / Sacramento Valley Shooting Center http://www.sacvalley.org/index.html

Robert Snellings is going into semi-retirement.

I think he's by appointment only...but he only charges a flat 60 dollar fee.

Super nice guy.

I've heard that Eagle Loan in Roseville has an FFL, but I've never checked it out. Maybe someone here knows for sure?

Eagle Loan on Vernon st in old Roseville does have an FFL. He has accessories and buys, sells and will take pawns on firearms.

I just stopped in on Friday after seeing the GUN advertisement on the window.
They’re very nice and helpful owners at MSI.
I decided to use them to accept a gun from Montana; they had contacted the seller and faxed a copy of the ffl before I even got home (10 minutes later).
Their prices are very good on pistols, little lower than the local Rocklin store, going to
Buy a Sig 220 next month from them. Highly recommend.

Newtown Firearms
1374 Broadway
Placerville, CA 95667
530-626-9945
http://www.newtown-firearms.com/
Good shop, Pretty tight space but big on AR AK and FAL stuff. They even mill their own AR's. Always pretty busy.

Big Horns Sporting Goods
(530) 642-1892
6271 Pleasant Valley Rd, El Dorado, CA 95623
Cowboy and hunting guns. Good deals on consignments

The Buck Stop
672 Pleasant Valley Rd
Diamond Springs, CA 95619
530-622-9486
Primarily hunting rifles and gun safes

Mosquito Creek Outfitters
3000 Mosquito Road, Placerville, CA 95667
(530) 621-4500
Newer shop but looks like it will cater to hunters and fisherman primarily.

Old sac armory still sells at shows and saw them at multiple roadrunner shows at cal expo last year. Gotta give to The Buck Stop since he has nice collection and think he's appointment only and to Rhino and Julie at Jksco cuz they always go out of their way when you deal with them. Im surprised nobody mentioned Wild Sports? Didnt they use to sell hg/rifles beside ammo?
