Default Delton barrel

Can't seem to find any reviews on them.

Anyone have experience with these barrels? any good? the price is pretty good.

This is the one I'm thinking of buying.

I would go with the BCM but they always seem to be sold out of the 14.5" midlength.

Of coarse i will be putting this muzzle device on it to make it legal.

I run a Del-Ton on my KISS AR. No complaints.

I have a del-ton chrome lined midlength rifle. So it probably would be the same barrel. Mine is accurate and reliable. Mark

Here are some reviews. I also know a couple people that have Del-Ton rifles that like them. They seem to be accurate as anything else.

A lot of people say all kinds of bad things about Del Ton. Keep in mind they are NOT the top quality out there, but for the price you can build a cheap rifle that works. I purchased one of their uppers for my A2 build and am using a RRA bolt carrier group in it. I have not had one issue with it at all. I have put at least 200 rounds through it so far, not one ftf or fte.

If your goal is to build a affordable rifle and you aren't worried about brand name then go for it. I would spend a little extra money on a quality bolt carrier group though.

My Wilson barrel is starting to act funny after about 6K rounds. Some say it is shot-out/burnt-out, but the jury is still out. Read details here

If you really want a nice barrel for not alot more money look at www.blackholeweaponry.com

Then get a BCM BCG and you're good to go!

Actually del-ton aren't using wilson barrels any more. My middy is suppose to be a wilson but my m4 I think is a mossberg barrel. Here's a quote from the sales lady from del-ton from last may.

Quote:
We do not sell Wilson Arms barrels anymore. We did two years ago, but have since been using Mossberg or our own barrels. Before the election parts were becoming more difficult to find, so we had to venture out to find other suppliers on certain things. We have had great success with the Mossberg barrels and with our own.

Thanks!
Laura

+1 on the Mossburg info! I called last Friday (12-31-10) and asked , "who makes your barrels?' I was told that they get unfinished Mossburg barrels and finish (coat them) them selves. I'll be getting one of their kits soon.

BTW, here are some answeres to my many questions, or lack there of. The person on the phone was very polite but sounded like a not so knowledgeable old lady. She was doing her best while looking at referance notes.

Q: Do you offer any discounts?
A: Yes, a 4% discount if you send a copy of your LEO or miltary ID.
Q: Do you ship your parts to Ca?
A: Yes, parts only, not complete rifles.
Q: Are your M4 type barrels (16") Gov't profile, stepped down under the handguards?
A: No.
Q: Who makes your Barrels?
A: Mossburg but we finish (coat) them here.
Q: Who makes your bolts / carriers?
A: I don't know.
Q: Are your bolts "MP" stamped?
A: They are magnet partical checked but I don't know if they are stamped MP.
Q: Are your M4 type flat top uppers T-marked and who makes them.
A: I don't know who makes them but they are T-marked.
Q: Who makes your LPK?
A: Varios manufacturers.
Q: Who makes your double sheild M4 type hand guards?
A: I don't know.
Q: Will the front sling swivel be pinned or riveted and is it rubber/plastic coated?
A: They are riveted and will come coated.

I didn't ask how long they have been using the Mossburg barrels but from the above poster it sounds like it has been for a while. All I know is that the price vs. quality (as reviewed by other users) sounds good. I also like the fact that their M4 type hand guards are double sheilded and the upper will come standard with the M4 cuts. Not that either is needed on a semi auto but it will add feel good / cool factor value to me.

It still shocks me to hear people say using a Del-Ton kit (along with your stripped lower) is a good way to make a "CHEAP SHOOTER." This build, basic M4gery with removable carry handle (non-crome lined barrel), on a Mega lower ($120) will cost about $750 out the door.

Waaaay back in the day I could build the same rifle (same quality) for just a little over $400 out the door. Now that was a cheap price for a decent shooter!

I run a Del-Ton right next to a Colt and they both shoot the same. For a Field grade AR that is.
