Default If I had to keep only 1 .45 cal HG which should it be?

I've been thinking about selling off my collection except for 1 firearm in each popular caliber and firearm type. This one concerns .45s. Which one should I keep and why? If you have any other suggestions also please let me know. Thanks.

If the shorter barrelled 1911 (Champion?) is reliable, keep that one. It is compact enough for CCW (If thats an option for you) and retains good fire power (8+1 of 230 grain goodness). If no ccw, then the fullsize 1911. Geez, and I am not even a 1911 guy

Keep one of the 1911's. I prefer the shorter one.

The 625 probably isn't the most practical, but it does look like the most beautiful. For self defense, I am not sure. I don't have much experience with Semi-Auto's. I am getting my first semi in a few days. Monday, assuming something doesn't prevent me from getting to Bass Pro Shops to pick it up.

EDIT: though I gotta say, that Glock 30 is the only Glock I have seen which doesn't look ugly to me.

I voted for the SA loaded, but the 625 would be second. I'd keep them both!

You just made me sad. thinking about getting rid of guns is disheartening.

I'm a fan of long slides, the Loaded is where i'd go. However, it's tough to compete with a revolver for ability to eat any ammo, and go bang every time.

Sell the Glock & 1 of the 1911's.
Even at that you're gonna be sorry you did... except maybe the Glock...

How many times have you ever heard somebody say "I sure am glad I sold that gun?"

Yes, a sad thought. I do love 1911s and USPs so it's a tough choice. One the one hand, the 1911s are classic but if you have high cap magazines for the USP there's a lot to be said for a double stack mag full of .45ACP.

Keep both 1911's and toss the rest especially if your not using any of the guns as HD/SD.. if its going to be a gun for protection take the 625 revolver and toss the rest.. revolver will save your life 99.9% of the time than a semi-auto as long as you shoot first..

BTW: I didn't vote just because who really wants to see such a nice collection be sold.. if the price is right and you decide to give up the 625 I call dibbs.

Of your choices the one I'd trust for long term reliability and shootability the HK USP. Even though I'm more of a Glock/1911 fan I don't like short barrel .45's and for 1911's I'm kind of a 1911 snob, prefer TRP or Les Baer quality minimum for a 1911 I might potentially have to live with the rest of my life. I prefer revolvers in a revolver caliber.

If I was in your place ideally I'd sell them all and get a Les Baer/Springfield Custom "Custom Carry" Model or a Glock21SF and the rest on accesories for the Glock and lots of ammo.

Would have to say the 1911 SA Champion. It would be fine for target shopping, HD, and CCW. It is compact and very flat, and spare parts are more than abundant.

I voted HK. I would prefer a 1911, but the mag capacity is too low to take the top spot.

The one that goes bang every time and has the best combat trigger on earth? Glock . Add a weapon light once you see all those guns!

Keep the 625. Then go find a Ruger Blackhawk with a 45 ACP cylinder.

My son likes to shoot but really isn't into guns. My daughter could care less. I picked out my favorites and kept my dad's guns and sold the rest, bought a '56 Chevy and haven't looked back.

But to answer the op's question i would keep the GLOCK (the only .45 i have left) or the HK

I'd keep at least one of the 1911s and definitely sell the Glock (they're a dime-a-dozen). That way if you ever wanted the Glock again in the future, it'd be the easiest and economical to purchase down the road.

Keep the rest.

I think I chose the small SA 1911......Buy one of the rail attachments for it (IMHO).

I think I wont get as far as you did....I want to have enough to arm my whole family IF, god forbid, SHTF (A handgun, rifle, shotgun). Good choice to sell if your family doesn't like to shoot....At least you got a bad ace ride!

I voted 1911 loaded, its what I got in my nightstand , but the question is a little too vague, it really depends on how your gonna use it. Range only? or HD? I would still got with the 1911 IMO

Divorced and remarried father of 5. I take my kids shooting but not as often as I did when they were younger. I had the same idea of having the whole family armed if SHTF ever happened, but just me and my 2nd wife now in the home. My collection basically consists of 2 handguns, 2 rifles and a shotgun for every member of the family and to pass them down in the future. I just don't think that any of my kids will be really all into collecting or keeping any of the firearms once it gets to them so my reason to just have enough for my wife and I.

All purpose firearm for range and HD. Right now I'm leaning toward the HK due to barrel length, capacity, reliability. Right now the poll is in favor of the SA 1911 loaded. I love the way the 1911 shoots, handles, and the all steel construction. What I don't like is the magazine capacity, but then again I can have tons of single stack mags to carry around instead of larger double stack mags. Thanks all for the input.

Sell the 625 to me. I'm local to you in the SGV.
