The original caliber is a federal destructive device at .55 cal. Many of the current guns out there are rechambered to .50 bmg which would be a Kali no no and might effect it's C&R status. For Kali, a custom .50 DTC barrel could be made and be legal, it is just more money to comply with the stupid regs.

C&R firearms chambered in .50 BMG are exempt from the California .50 BMG ban. But, as mentioned above, rechambering a Boyes Anti-Tank rifle could negate its C&R status.
Most of the time (or maybe even all of the time) ATF seems not really care about small things like caliber conversions on C&R firearms, especially when the outward appearance of the weapon stays the same. But with this conversion you could push CalDOJ into asking ATF for a ruling that the firearm was no longer C&R. CalDOJ might go this far just to keep such and evil gun out of the state. But if the conversion to .50 BMG had been done at least 50 years ago then you would be fine.

And not in it's original caliber. They are very heavy but the type 1 muzzle brake is very effective, and recoil is minimal. We had one in the shop, and a 10 year old girl used to shoot it. |
