Default What's the most expensive hand gun you can buy?

I'm courious, what is the most expensive hand gun money can buy? This excludes old historic or art type guns. Like the gun that killed a president or a gun made from solid gold.

I'll break it into two areas: factory of the shelf guns and a modified factory gun.

It would also be nice to have an explanation of why this particular gun costs so much.

A nice simple Korth 357 would be a good start.

Honestly, you can make a 1911 way past $4K.

If your goal is to find the most expensive custom gun, you can probably obtain it by finding a diamond stud Desert Eagle. Lots of surface area and toss on a set of gold grips. I doubt you'll find anything less expensive and it'll be CA legal.

I see some korths start out at 4700.

Well you can put over a million in rare diamonds but il just looking into factory or modified guns that have a real purpose in the shooting world, not for looks.

There are full custom 1911's that run $6k+, generally built off of Colts.

I thought there would be something that would be like 10k for a gun that's hand built and designed to run like a Swiss watch. I must say that korth is cool.

The most expensive gun on the Cali safe list are the Wilson Combat Classic and Tactical Supergrades at around $4.4k each. Nighthawk, Wilson and Les Baer all make 1911s for around $7k.

The most expensive gun I've seen is a Stan Chen Legacy Custom 1911, which I hear is over $7k.

That's excluding guns of historical value, or ones with precious metal or jewels.

Those with historical significance will probably fetch some hefty sum, but value would be hard to determine without an auction. AFAIK, a Singer 1911 is very sought after. A near mint one will fetch upwards of $25k.

I will guess that If I dip a 1911 in gold it would go for a pretty penny at today's gold price.

If you're referring to my post, which was right above this, I was being serious. I doubt there are a whole lot of people on this board who are familiar with a Korth and that it is a "factory" gun, inasmuch as a Patek Philippe Platinum World Time is a "factory" watch.

I'm surprised how many people missed the OP's mention of non unique guns or guns made of gold but just normal production type guns..

To be fair he did say production type guns and modified guns, excluding historical/etc.

The most expensive gun I can find actually listed as a "for sale" production gun from a gun maker (not just a PURE custom shop) is the Ed Brown "Classic Custom Centennial Edition." It says they will make them only in 2011, but otherwise looks to be a readily available "factory" gun, albeit an engraved one.

$6995.

After that the most expensive I can find are the various Wilson Combat "tactical supergrades" at $4450

I thought they made 3 and one was completely destroyed during testing, one is known and the third is missing. But, I definately could be wrong.

Grrrr, i lost by $4.95

But, I think Volkmann is at the very bleeding edge of what can be considered "factory."

I've seen new Ed Brown guns on dealer shelves....never a Volkmann.

Still, well played sir, you win.
