Default EOtech 512 or Remington 870 Express

Hey guys,
Just need some convincing one way or another. What do you guys think? A Eotech 512 to go on top of a Saiga 7.62 or a Remington 870 express. I know the EOtech will make the Saiga even more fun to shoot. I am currently without a shotgun and would like one for home defense. However, on the other hand the $30 off for EOtech 512s bought before 12/31 make it an even sweater deal. Opinions? Pros? Cons? Thanks.

You are seriously asking this? LOL JK man. I would take the 870 then buy the xps later. I hate the 512 model eotech though and I love my 870 so maybe I'm biased

Call me cheap but the $30 off the 512 is fishing me in. 7.62 SP to the zombie dome will do just fine. Jeesh now im a SHTF zombie poster yikes.

Why not buy a Norinco/Hawk/Interstate 982 and a sight from Primary Arms?
understandably, the primary arms sights will not be quite as fantastic as an EOtech, but at under $100 and a one year warranty, you cannot ask for much more. (And you are putting it on a Saiga, a rifle with a lower MSRP than the holographic sight)

I bought a Walther PS22 and it rattled the insides to dust. Good thing Midway took it back within 90 days and even gave me my money back for the shipping. I'm really skeptical about cheaper red dots. If anything I would get the Bushnell Trophy Master 1x32 for $140.

I am want a decent red dot and can get one or the other. Hmm...

The shotgun is sounding even better.

The primary arms are actually pretty decent. My buddy ran one on his ak for a while. He gave it to our other friend who runs it on his bubba'd Mosin now It is still holding up though. You should buy a maverick 88 for $199 and find an aimpoint or eotech in the market place. It's a small compromise to get both In fact check the market place for a shotgun too.

I knew some smart *** would say both! NP just send me 350 for either one and I will get right on that! Sounds like I'll be getting that Remington. Who knows, my mind has changed 4 times since I decided to buy the EOtech.

I'm trying to plan this strategically, as I have recently moved to Oregon and will be buying a G25 sf with my tax return for CCW. Damn, I need to fit this EOtech in somewhere in my budget.

If you have pretty decent credit, buy it from sportsmansguide.com and do their 4 pay plan. It bills it to your card over 4 payments.

Unless you are a soldier going into combat, a shotgun is a much more versatile use of $350 than the EoTech. You can defend the home. You can put a longer barrel on it (buy the combo deal) and shoot birds or clay pigeons. These last two items are much harder to do with a Saiga. If you already have a shotgun, I'd say go with the eotech. Considering how basic an 870 is, I'm assuming you don't have one.

As with all electronics, the march of pricing will inevitably push the cost of the EOTECH down even further. For <$400 after rebate, I picked up an XPS2-0. It's a neato toy but it's not nearly as useful as another firearm. Could I live without it? Absolutely. Could you live without it? Of course -- you already have metal sights on the Saiga.

Shotgun. An Eotech on an AK platform is a waste anyway. Practice with the iron sites and you will be able to shoot better than your AK is capable of shooting.
