Default Black Ion plated 500 Smith & Wesson (pics)

Its not exactly what I wanted but Im not done yet.
I wanted the cylinder plated gun metal gray.
The PVD machine that does the Ion Plating creates
a huge magnetic balloon inside. That creates energy.
The energy would leave arching marks and so it could
not be done. I guess its all the curves etc. So Im going
to try to find someone who can coat the cylinder gun
metal gray. For now its Ion silver bead blasted. The gun
is Black Ion plated. I need to send the whole thing off to
Smith to finish the insides. I cant put it back together.
I lost my pictures during my hard drive crash. Oh well....

Heres the pics.......

I saw your other thread asking about a set of schematics to help you reassemble the gun, but I had no idea it looked so GOOD.

That is SWEET.

THAT LOOKS AWESOME!!!!!!!

Where did you get that done and if you don't mind how much did it run you? I'm going to be buying back my Kahr K40 for off duty carry and I'd like to have it finished in black.

Dude, just find some exploded diagrams and put the thing together. You can do it...Just take your time and don't lose any small parts while you are at it.

I don't really know what "ion plating" is, but your Smithie looks hella cool.

Where did you get that done? I think I'd like to get that on my 520. How corrision resistant is ion plating? Does it compare to Glocks tenifer finish? Very nice BTW.

Is it normal to get a hardon when looking at these pics?

Hey, a 500 that is finally in the right color.

I'm a purist in that all my N-frames and S&Ws have to be blued. That's closer to bluing, still not quite my taste as I'd have a Scandium 329 if it was.

But it is a damn nice looking gun and about as tempting as ever for me to get a 500 if S&W were smart enough to offer them like that.
