Default Gardena, Torrance

guys,
I have a question regarding CCW. For Torrance and Gardena, which one is more likely giving out CCW? Which one should I apply? Or should I apply in both? Thanks
J

LA County CCW costs $2M, payable to the Mayor.

Does Gardena even issue or do they defer to LASD?

Any gotten an LTC through them?

Looking at both web pages, it appears that neither is a "Self Defense = Good Cause" IA. Looks like either will need some sort of work related or life threatening (read stalker, restraining order etc) issue to even consider. That's just based on the reading of their policies. I assume they are fall under the heading of "Heightened Good Cause" requirement as used on the CCW map and table (see the link in my sig).

The other thing is you have to live in either city to apply through them. Do you live in either city? If not, you are stuck with LASD.

Do you live in either place or are you willing to move to either? I doubt they'll take your application if you live in Whittier or whatever.

They'll probably want to establish a primary residence, most likely the one listed on your driver's license. Here in San Berdoo county they won't accept you owning a home in Big Bear Lake for instance if you're primary residence is in another county. I guess you could establish either if you live and own both places so your question is understandable especially considering the county.

Good luck.

When I took my class for my non-resident AZ CCW at Sharpshooters in Torrance, one of the instructors told us that Torrance would issue for the right reason. Don't know what that reason is. I have not tried to apply as yet. Gardena is a no go from what others in the class were saying.
And yes, I do live in Torrance.

Default Gardena, Torrance

Just read that Eve Irvine was selected to lead Torrance PD. Anyone know her stance on CCW?
Also just FYI, Torrance was issuing after the 3-judge Peruta decision but then stopped after the full panel reversal.

No, but here's an article about her:
http://www.dailybreeze.com/2017/11/1...ce-department/

She's coming from being the CoP of Manhattan Beach. I forget what their CCW policy is like (if they issue), but I think I talked with baggss about it in re. to the CA CCW GC map, so I've PMed him to chip in.

From what I remember reading, they got very restrictive for awhile, then loosened again, but not to what they were prior to the en banc decision -- kind of like what Sheriff Hutchens did in OC.

Here's an article about the initial liberalization of Torrance PD CCWs:

MB has a history of issuing at least some CCWs to civilians. In the last CalGuns CCW report in 2011 they had a few out there...

Interestingly 2011 was her first year as the CoP and the last year the DoJ reported statewide CCW numbers (and CalGuns did their report), so we have no real way of knowing what the numbers were after she became chief.
