Does anyone know if this is is unusual or not? I tried to apply for a new permit this week, I was told there are no appointments being made for next year. I emailed the ccw link and got a reply from Amber stating they don't have an anticipated date as to when they are opening further appointments.

Hi, I don't mean to sound dumb, I just do that naturally. How do you search for an appointment date? Just do the online app thing? Doesn't that show every time you do that? Like I said, I don't mean to sound dumb, just want to get this permit done one of these years.

Input your info and it will recognize you from then on when you enter you Dl to log in. Appointments will be green on the calendar. Currently booked it through March or so. Once more appts become available you will see them on the calendar. Sometimes people cancel so check regularly.

EDIT
Ok, reread your post, I think I got it now. Thanks for the help, I do hope they are just backlogged and not shutting things down.

Do I enter my DL number each time, or should I wait for appts. to be shown? Thanks for the help.
Just close it out and re log in with your DL as often as you want to view the calendar. Cycle through the months to look for any green dates from now through March.

oh, well that is the problem then. There is no calendar, when I enter my DL I get the page with my name and address info, click the next button and then it says I am not in the system so only new appts. will be shown, click the next button and then I get the message:

Were sorry there are currently no available appointments for new applicants.
We will keep your contact information on file and notify you via e-mail when
additional appointments are published.

So I am guessing that every time I do that, someone or some database is getting a tick that I applied again. Like I said above, I emailed to the ccw address and Amber told me that there was no anticipated date as to when they are opening further appointments. I am hoping that is because they are booked way out, and not a response to the recent tragedy in CT.

You're doing it correct. When you re-login nothing is being technically being submitted. It is simply recognizing you and enabling you to continue further.

Ok, thank you much for the help. I will start checking then after the holidays and hope for the best. In the meantime, at least I can carry a big stick, I don't think I need a carry permit for that...yet.

Just got my approval letter! Amber mentioned an email glitch, so if it's been over a month you'd better go ahead and call or email them to make sure you didn't fall through the cracks.

Glad to hear!

Before you Livescan give the location a call. If I remember correctly the nice lady at the Marconi station said she would be out for a week or so on leave.

Hm, I have a lease agreement I can use but none of the utility bills are in my name and my vehicle registration is under a different address. Any idea what else I can use? Maybe I'll try and change the address on my registration via the DMV website.

Got last minute opened spot on October 20th, Initial Appointment on Nov 29th and approval email on Dec 28th. Lets see If I can get this done in less then 180 days end to end.

What I would like to know is...Since having my Livescan done on Dec 7th I haven't received my approval from Sac sheriff? I checked the Automated Ph. # and it said the agency (SSD) got the results.. I guess it's just a waiting game? I've already done my 16 hour course.

Usually takes about 20-30 days before you hear back. They receive electronic results relatively quick, however they wait for the physical letter. Then when they receive that they process you and send you a letter. With all the holidays and number of people. scanning. You should hear back soon.

Just as an FYI, this isn't posted on Sac County's website anywhere.

If anything happens with a weapon on your CCW, SAC County wants to know immediately.

If sold, tell them. Probably need copy of bill of sale.
If stolen or lost, tell them and get a copy of the report from the Department you reported it to. They will not look in the AFS system to check and telling a city Police Dept is not sufficient.

Without that, they will not process your application.

I just wanted to thank a lot of you for offering up this information that allowed me ot get the ball rolling on this process. I have a rather squeaky clean record overall but one thing that worried me is the possibility of a warrant being out for any past tickets I have ever over looked.

Last thing I want to do is show up thinking I am doing my CCW interview and wind up in cuffs because of an old ticket. my license was just renewed (literally) so its obviously not suspended but still I can think of possibly 1 ticket that vanished lol.

Anyone know if there is a way for me to look up or find out this information rather than the second det. informing me during his interview?

I maybe wrong (someone correct me), but you may contact the CA DOJ and request your own Criminal Records check http://oag.ca.gov/fingerprints/security. $25, and it will tell you everything you need to know.

I think also there is a way to get your DMV records; I think this info is buried in this thread somewhere as well.

EDIT: Here is the info on getting the DMV stuff, not sure if it will list all the stuff that you need:
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/online/dr/dr_faqs.htm

Good luck!

When you go to the DMV to get your record you have two choices. 3 year or 10 year. Ask for the 10 year. Both cost the same. I had two tickets on there that were older than three years. The DMV employee noticed and gave me a phone number to call to get them to evaluate my record and scrub the old stuff.

Had my initial interview today! Super easy, pain free experience. I used a bank statement and a notarized statement of residency for my proof of residency.

Thanks for the response. I thought that there was a form letter at one time that had the good cause statement on it, but I guess I'm wrong.
