It's correct that the paperwork says that.

But there are no parts of the Penal Code that require that one must first be denied by one's city of residence, nor are there any that support 'three letters of reference'. The published policy is significantly at variance with state law.

Denials come only after applications. Some people get LTC in CoCoCo - it isn't impossible.

On the other hand, they're not issued commonly, either.

I wonder if living in an unincorporated area of the county affects the odds of securing an LTC. My area is served by the CCC SD, so there is no city police department to first deny my application.

Do I have any chance in Orinda?
If so, should I got to Orinda PD or to County Chief first?

I completed the Conta Costa County Sheriff's "State of California Standard Application for CCW license" and received my denial letter dated Oct. 5th, 2011. I sent everything to C. D. Michel Lawyers. My denial letter read like San Diego's denial.

I will wait and see what C. D. Michel says--but it looks like I just wait until it is Contra Costa county's turn for litigation--if ever.

So since SB 610 is now law does CGF recommend that we all go out and apply for Carry Licenses in droves?

That's what I thought. Saw some people post that the DROS and 610 became law immediately but i don't remember them being past as urgency laws.

JUST CAUSE - - DENIED * * City of CONCORD
I wish to acquire a license to carry a functional fire arm in order to lawfully exercise may fundamental right to keep and bear arms for the purpose of self-defense.
As being a partner in a family business I open and close ( 7am - 5pm ) by myself frequently. Some of my duties include every Thursday taking the cash sales and monthly rents that have come in to the business / building owner.
Collecting rents for the apartments above the business and the two rental retail spaces along side of ours. The rents are always paid in cash.
Due to the location of the business I have been asked to escort customers to there cars after making a purchase.
I work in a high crime area ( XXXX Ave. Oakland, 94601 )the business next door was held up at gun point in the past year. One of our employees who lives above the business as been held up multiple times. There has been three killings with in 300 yards of our place of business in the past year.

I'll be old and gray before seeing changes in CoCo.
But, we'll see what the new year brings.

This looks like he went through the City first... Tub, have you gone through the county? Let us know.

The county has issued LTC permit(s) since the new sheriff has taken office.

County requires that you try City Police dept first and show the county the denial letter to apply with the Contra Costa County, I think I'll wait till after the first of the year and see how the open carry ban affects the outcome of applications.

It doesn't matter. That requirement is illegal and has been discussed many times here. If you go to the sheriff's department and demand an application and hey don't give you one then you could contact Wildhawker and let things play out from there.

My first post. Been lurking for awhile, decided to register if for no other reason than to say that this is BS. To me, there is no reason that the reasons you listed should have been denied...

I hope there are some major changes in CA soon...I love being close to my family. I have lived in Brentwood for all of my life (25 years in four days) minus the last few months that I've been living in San Francisco for school, still using Brentwood as primary residence though. At least 90% of my family is within 100 miles...but i can't stand this ridiculousness anymore. I'm at the point where, as much as I love being close to my family, once I finish college, I may be packing up and looking for teaching jobs elsewhere in the US...keeping fingers crossed for some good changes in the next couple years.

That's the entire reason why they keep passing these laws. They want people like us to leave so the Democratic - SEIU political machine will be totally unopposed and it can finally do to California what they did to Detroit.

We may think of Detroit as a failure, but it's not. It may be a miserable place to live, but it has been solidly Democratic since the 1970s, and that's the only measure of success that counts for the people who control it.

Oakley IS the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department. Oakley contracts with CCCSD to provide police services and the officers are really Sheriiff's Deputies in a different uniform. I contacted Oakley PD about a LTC and they told me to call the SD for LTC/CCW applications.

If california became a shall issue state, would coco county have no choice but to issue permits to citizens with good cause?

I'm so frustrated that I lose my right to defend myself and love ones when I leave my house. What kind of bs is this? How many lives could have been saved in California alone, if it had been a shall issue state for the last 5 years?
