Default Where to go after 9mm?

Looking around for a new handgun, whats the cheapest ammo after 9mm and where can shop for it? Have been checking out 45acp. the price of the ammo is real big deal with me. Any help or advice you can give. Thanks Timmm

I think the .40s&w is generally cheaper than .45acp. Also, are you considering the .22LR? They are cheaper than 9mm.

this is a great aggregator for prices on ammo:

Might help you map out prices.

Other then 22lr as J1133S pointed out, 40S&W is the next cheapest.

If ammo price keep you away from range, get yourself a Tokarev clone or CZ 52. Shoot all the surplus ammo you can order at ~$.09.

Many think 40 is the natural progressions, but I think 40 has a different type of recoil than the rest of the calibers. Personally, i see nothing wrong with sticking with 9s. I like all calibers and think they all fill some kind of niche (some slimmer than others).

I'm at the point of my gun collecting to narrowing down to just 9mm and 38sp/357mag

I did the same when ammo prices went through the roof.

I originally learned how to shoot with 45acp. Then owned 40s and eventually realized that 9mm, 38spl and .22lr was the way to go if I wanted to shoot more often. I still have a couple 40s though.

Like the 5th poster said, the Tokorev ammo (7.62x25) is super cheap and not a boring .22lr (I personally am not big on .22lr handguns, rifles are fun sometimes.)

Or you could just get a new rifle. Or a new rifle in a handgun caliber.

I shot a S&W .44 mag for the first time today, definitely don't get one of those haha. (Expensive)

And it is easier to get. Last year during the ammo shortage, the ONLY pistol ammo I saw on the shelf at Walmart and other gun stores was the 40 S&W.

A 22 revolver is a nice little gun. I think Ruger has one with 2 cylinders to shoot 22LR or 22 WMR. The only bad thing is the 22 WMR is expensive and not really worth the price (box of 50 for ~$10).

If you are having trouble with 9mm prices, move to 22LR

Great suggestion, though if I'm not mistaken... a lot of indoor ranges won't allow you to fire this ammo. Please correct me if I'm wrong
