Assault Weapons Registration Confirmation
I sent in my registration form along with my $20.00 check to register my Tec .22 back in 2000 to the DOJ.I never recieved a confirmation letter or anything back. The DOJ will send me a copy of the AWR (if they ever processed it) if I send them a notarized copy of my drivers license.I'm hesitant to give up that information even if it was their mistake.I checked with the bank,no records of checks after seven years.Any ideas?

Rather than specifically asking about the Tec .22, what if you just send in a copy of http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/forms/pdf/...ateCitizen.pdf and get a list of all the guns they know about? Alternatively, you could draft a letter requesting a copy/printout of all AW registrations in your name, and get it notarized along with a copy of your drivers' license, send that in, and see what you get back.

That's a very good suggestion, blkdawg.
Also, this is why many folks sent their AW reg via certified/registered mail and kept copies/receipts. If your bank records go back that far, you could also find out if they cashed your check for the AW reg. To be safe, until you know for sure, install some sort of maglock in your Tec22 with a 10rd magazine.

I learned a long time ago, ALWAYS MAKE COPIES of important docs. ALWAYS! And keep them in a safe location so 10,20,30 years from now, you'll have them! |
