Arrow AK-47 Best Value

So which AK-47 style rifle has the best value? I'm talkin' about as inexpensive as possible but not a POS. Of course, it has to be readily available for purchase here in Kali either via local gun shop or online

Recommendations/Links are very welcome.

---------
Edit: Looking for the traditional/classic look AK either in wood or polymer.

I called my local FFL dealer and he had one in stock for $308 + fees. Brand new. I said "sold".

Search FFL dealer in your area.

Watch it on the internet, hidden costs. You will need a dealer transfer and CA compliance. Sometimes it is cheaper to just buy one from a CA dealer, at least you have somewhere to go when something goes wrong. You might save a few bucks or even pay more, but who you gonna call when you need something. We do transfers for $50 + $25 DROS, but we expect you to give us a shot at beating the price first.

Thank you all for the initial responses It looks like the Saiga is a winner......however......it's not the look I am looking for. Pardon my ignorance but I'm a newb when comes to AKs I think it's better to show what I want using photos: (pics from RifleGear)

Saiga - (this style is too generic for my taste)

Century WASR - (this is 'the look' I want but it can be wood or polymer furniture) (Does Saiga have one like this?)

SAIGA if you want the best value and ability to convert to an AK style.

Or a WASR if you are lazy and want a cheap reliable AK variant.

If you want a cheap AK platform to tweek, get a Saiga. If you want the cheapest out of the box AK with a traditional look, get a WASR. There is nothing wrong with the majority of WASRs out there. Some people just like feeling better about their +$1000 AK purchases so, they put down the cheaper AKs which function the same but have a lesser quality fit and finish.

Both are legal in California! Also, in reference to the Wasr, if it is configured without features, one can use their legally owned 30 round mags. If one feels the need for evil features and wants the look of a normal mag, they can use a 10/30.

When I hear best value or best bang for the buck AK, I think Saiga and WASR:
-Saiga, new, but not exacty AK form, however, easy to convert.
-WASR, umm, watch out for canted sights and everything else on the "check list."

Anyone ever shot a WASR with canted sights? I'm wondering if they are "canted" in order to be able to zero them.

Just got my WASR out of jail this morning!!! Did an oil and lube job then put 20 rounds down range. Sights are slightly canted but it appears to be a method of centering. I mean, I pulled the trigger and the bullets went forward.

Werd.
We have 5 in the shop, none of them are canted, they look like it because the drum is adjusted to the one side on a couple but the bases are straight.

So from surfing the web for a couple of hours, I got the feeling that the Saiga is indeed a great value.

So to turn this:

Into something like this:

-What would it take? Any DIY links?
-Easy or Hard? I have built 4 ARs so far.
-How much money is involved? Or do I just buy the WASR straight up? From what I read, the Saiga has better quality compared to the WASR.

Click on this link. Select a Saiga, it'll show you what parts you need to create it. Lots of fun window-shopping. I'm gonna order my conversion parts soon.

WASR...Fondle a few and you are set. Watch for cants and loose parts. You will be fine. People exaggerate here like you would not believe. Join AK Files and get more info re wanting an AK pattern.

Arms of America is a good outfit to work with but they were running low on the IZ 132 . We have a new shipment coming in from the US/Russian import connection but the price will go up on this group so buy them while they are still at the old lower price.

Maybe he does not have the time, tools or money to convert it? Maybe it was a gift? Maybe he can build it any way he wants without people criticizing his taste? If he wanted our opinion he would have asked for it.

WASRs get a bad rap IMHO. If you educate yourself on what to look for the value is great. Actually, anyone considering a milsurp type purchase should do a lot of reading prior to laying down the cash. If you want to buy w/o having to put a lot of thought into it definitely go for a saiga.

IMO stay away from USA barrel builds, the IO builds specifically. Build quality on those rifles is dismally poor.

-Easy or Hard? I have built 4 ARs so far.
-How much money is involved? Or do I just buy the WASR straight up? From what I read, the Saiga has better quality compared to the WASR.

That gun was restored to AK specs. The Gas block, front sight base, hand guard retainer, and trigger guard were all replaced with Bulgarian parts, all the holes were welded up and the wood is Tapco Timbersmith.

Saiga - (this style is too generic for my taste)

Century WASR - (this is 'the look' I want but it can be wood or polymer furniture) (Does Saiga have one like this?)
Look at my Saiga before you decide a Saiga doesnt have the right look...here's a link to mine...

So if I didn't want to do a conversion, which one should I look for if I wanted the traditional/classic look? WASR? CASAR? Something else?

WASR, but educate yourself on what to look out for. Canted sights, bad rivets, etc.
