Thumbs up Do you need a De-humidifier?TEST

I just read my Guns and Ammo about Safes, all the ones in the July issue are nice and very expensive, I like my Winchester deal I got at Sams Club. Anyway, here is the test they recommend to check to see if you need a de-humidifier. Take a Saltine Cracker and place it in a dry bowl. Leave the cracker in the bowl and place the bowl where you are going to place the safe. Leave the bowl there for a week. At the end of a week check the cracker, if the cracker is damp, you will need a de-humidifier or some sort of absorbent for the moiture. If the cracker is dry then you don't need anything but I would recommend checking through all seasons, just to be on the safe side.

My Father in Law said that he read somewhere that if you place two or three briquets on a paper plate inside the safe if works very well at removing the humidity, don't know how true it is but I will try it and let everyone know how well it works and for how long before needing changing.

I bought a $20 Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer with Hygrometer from Ratshack. It has a remote sensor that stays inside my safe so I can keep track of the humidity at all times. Lets me know when it's time to recharge my desiccant packs.
