Thumbs up FN Scar 16 owners, spare parts list & prices

This is for the guys who own a Scar 16 who need spare parts for their weapon but don't know where to order them from. I ran into the issue of needing a new magazine release and came across the fnforum where someone was kind enough to post up the spare parts list. The lady that helped me on the phone was very kind and patient. My shipping was like $8 for 10 day delivery or $13 for 2 day air. Hope this helps. The phone number on the website works but it has the incorrect extension number. Here is the correct one, 1-800-322-4626 ext 3

Wow thanks man this is great news I really liked the Scar a tad more than the ACR but always heard of there not being aftermarket spare parts to repair them with if something ever happened.

Good to hear. I heard there wasn't very good support when it came to spare parts. Thanks

No Scar 17 Heavy parts list yet?

Not that I know of yet. I'll try searching to see if I can find it.

Just wondering if you added up the prices for every spare part that made up a complete Scar how much would that Scar actually cost. More or less than the $3000 price tag.

Nice one. Been thinking about picking up a spare bolt assembly with firing pin and all.

Has anyone made a list of parts for a field repair kit for the SCAR 16s? That would be very useful.

I've found that the rifle I have (Black Scar 15XXX serial num.) has a lower that does not work with standard AR grips, however, I noticed that they claim that the newer rifles have been changed to allow use of AR 15 grips. Can anyone confirm?

Cheers,
Scott

I have a black scar as well, one of the more recent runs I think, just picked it up about nearly 2 months ago. The tang was slightly too long for standard AR grips so I took a Dremel to a magpul MIAD along with the medium sized backstrap and got it to fit quite nicely.

This website sells pre-modified hogue, ergo, and tango down grips:

I found some replacement barrels for the Scar 17 https://www.hi-desertdog.com/index.p...&productId=635.
C-Products is actually making Scar 17 magazines and they can be purchased here http://www.cproductsllc.com/SR_25_an...Magazines.html
Here are some Caliber Conversions for the Scar 16 though. https://www.hi-desertdog.com/index.p...ewCat&catId=73

Yes they take regular AR magazines. The regualar AR mags fit perfectly but I noticed that with P-mags its a little bit of a tighter fit..more "snug" if you will. Not too tight though but just a noticeable difference.

I tried this last night with my MIAD medium backstrap. I dremeled the backstrap out nicely but that darn tang on the lower is ~1/8 too long for the grip to sit properly still. I was going to dremel the inside of the MIAD where the tang rests but there's no way I can get it properly flat and level. There's no way I'm going to shave the tang on my lower anyway...even though the lower costs the same as the grip. I installed the grip anyway even though there's that ~1/8 gap at the base of the grip. Screw it.

If using a PMAG, you need to dremel out a little material from the back of the mag. Otherwise, you risk damaging your SCAR.

Yeah I already took care of all my Pmags. Pretty easy fix.
