Smile RE: FN SLP VS. Remington 11 87 Police

I'm looking to purchase either the FN Self Loading Police or the Remington
11 87 Police shotgun. This will be for home defense.I 'm leaning towards the SLP because it uses the same action as the Winchester SX2 MK1 Practical. If you own one or have thought could you give me your opinion. Thanks

I have two winchester SX2's. One is the Mk 1 practical and the other is a field gun. I LOVE them. That action design is really fantastic. My buddy has a few Benelli M1 Super 90s and also has a couple of Super X2's and though it is a touch choice for him, he prefers the super X2 action.
I don't use either for home defense though. I stick with a .45 (springfield) and a Remington 870. Even if you have a great auto shotgun, I prefer a pump action for its extremely high reliability (not to say that good autos are not reliable, but I feel better with a pump gun....just chalk it up to personal preference.)

I would go with the SLP. FN has superb quality when it comes to their shotguns. I'm happy with my tps. I mean take a look FN has a really good track record: P90, Five-seven, M249, TPS, PBR and the SPR.

I think the answer you are fumbling for here is that in the dark and your auto miss feeds you can't clear it in the dark. If you are able to clear it you won't be able to see that you did.

Both Top Notch...semi auto.

You'll get good perfroemance out of both......if you want to accessorize go w/ 11-87
