I think you are talking about Africa's big 5. But that definately doesnt cover all of their big game animals. We have deer, antelope, elk, bear, and pig. It's very hard to get an elk tag and antelope tags are hard to come by also, so it would be hard to get all 5 here.

I thought in SoCal it was called "Animal Brutality" by PETA?

Here in NorCal, the consensus seems to be it's called "slaughter" -- You go find some poor, defenseless creature of nature using your ATV, GPS, and telescopic sight then shoot him from hundreds of yards away so that you can call it "sporting".

They even have prayer vigils for mountain lions that get shot in Palo Alto fer crissakes.¹

Somedays I wish these people would just "wake up" and realize where the money comes from to keep the wetlands and animal management programs.

¹ A prayer vigil is not the same thing as pausing to give thanks to God and nature for the animal you just took, and thanking God for letting you take it cleanly. Nor is it the same as some who will ask God to allow the animal's spirit to roam free in its own version of heaven, with abundant food and young to raise.

keep the wetlands and animal management programs. Since when have they done any of that with the money and fees we spend?

Easy! You can pick up a cow elk tag for 1500. Antelope if you shopped for a deal you could probaby get one for 2000. You could take Blacktail, Bear and Mule deer all on public land within a couple years if you hunted hard.
