Default sks stripper clips and ammo pouches

Hey all,

So i ve been shooting me new sks a lot lately, and I really like it, but seems I've run into a bit of a snag. I have the yugo sks, and it came with the pouches that let the clips sit vertically. Problem is, when I pull them out, the last round sometimes gets left behind in the pouch. Does anyone have any good suggestions for a new ammo pouch? I was thinking of getting the russian ones that let the clips sit horizontally like my mosin nagant.

Also, I bought a box of 20 stripper clips from ebay made by NCstar I think, no sure. But sometimes ill put them in my large shotshell holder I shoot skeet with and the rounds fall out from running around, its always the tenth round, is this normal?

Thanks

I've been tempted to get a larger shot shell holder for my ten rounder clips, idk who makes my clips but they seem to hold all ten pretty well. Also a "mag dump" bag for your belt may work, I really dont want to mall ninja around the range with one of those chinese sks rigs, so I'm looking at alternatives as well. let me know what you find too.

No, it's not normal. Most of us end up having the just seventh round fall out.

I'm actually looking into a bunch of different WWII era bandoliers, but I'm not positive if the 10 round strippers will fit in the 8mm and 7.62x54 ones. There cheap and made of cotton, I need to check if the 10 rounders for SKS would fit though

I've found a bunch of different ones online, Australian bando's, US bandos from carbines and garands, and vientnam bandos... I just can't bring myself to order one cuz I afraid they wont fit. So now I'm leaning towards getting a bigger pouch, like a shot shell holder, or a surplus mag dump pouch. something along those lines

Years ago I got a yugo from turners that came with what i think is a chinese stripper clip pouch. It holds 100 rounds and has worked pretty good the couple times I used it.

if its the chest rig, that is what I am trying to avoid. I just want something practical and low key, I'm thinking a bigger pouch that would hold 8-10 would be best.

Do you have a link ?

Edit: I forgot to ask, does it hold the clips horizontally or vertically? Did you have any troubles with rounds falling out when you went to pull them out?

This is the one I was talking about. It seems when I pull the clips out, the last one falls out because the tip of the rounds rub up against the inside walls of the pouch. I was thinking if I get one were the clips lay horizontally I can just pluck them out without the rounds rubbing on anything as they're being pulled out and I hopefully won't lose any that way.

Edit: This one specifically was what I was looking at. http://www.buymilsurp.com/pouch-russ...2b0da8aa1ee177 Does anyone have any experiences with those type of pouches? Maybe I just bought some really cheap stripper clips?

you know what i just remembered someone solved this very problem by simply putting a tie strap on one end of the stripper clip, of course if you do this you must remember to make sure to put the right end into the rifle when reloading but it is a cheap and simple fix to the problem

Like you mentioned, the Russian pouches are the only pouches that come to my mind to fit stripper clips horizontally. http://cgi.ebay.com/ORIGINAL-RUSSIAN...item3360b43614

The E. German pouches should work if you remove the center partitians: http://cgi.ebay.com/E-German-SKS-Amm...item35a9a822bb

As a side note, and mostly out of curosity, how many rounds did your typical soviet soldier carry for his SKS?

Here is something else to check out:

I have a couple of their 3x30 ar mag pouches. Pretty well made. I like that they offer either molle or alice attachment options.
