Default Opinion: What is the most beautiful handgun ever made?

And be specific down to the model and manufacturer; not just the make!

In other words, no saying, "The 1911."
WHICH 1911?

And please, let's keep the Glock jokes to a minimum.

I don't view the 92 as a pretty gun, I view it as a no frills don't take no for an answer sorta gun. You're literally stuck with it as it comes, weird dimensions and funny flowly lines included.

Default Three candidates

I haven't seen all the guns in the world, but here are three from my own collection that seem very attractive to me - a Browning Medalist .22, a Sig P226 in nickel, and a S&W 66 with 3 inch barrel:

Another vote for the Royal Blue Python. I remember drooling on the glass display case looking at those as a kid and thinking it was the most awesome thing I'd ever seen.

Yup Colt Python with royal blue finish gets my vote, followed by a nickel Colt SAA with Ivory grips.

I'm going to mention a couple. Glocks are physically and practically beautiful. A black W.German SIG 226 w/ silver controls is beautiful (or a stock 226 that has a heavy patina). A black 1911 w/ silver controls is beautiful.

Someone already mentioned the Python. How about...

Pre '80's P&R Smith & Wesson M27...

Some of us aren't really into the boxy black UberTacticool "me too" bottom feeders. This one's not mine. Wish it were.

The Hi Power is the only gun I've ever thought of as pretty. I can understand CZ75 or Jericho arguments.

Here's another vote for the BHP. Very elegant lines.

But IMO, no autoloader can match the beauty of either a finely finished Colt Python or a S&W 27 in 6" barrel.

Except for #'s 1 & 2 in the "Top 5" list below, the ordering is debatable.
  1. Walther P-38

  2. Beretta 92
  3. Colt Python (6", royal blue)
  4. A high polish nickel (not stainless) 1911, a la Al Capone gangster era
  5. Luger (6" Navy model)

Honorable mention (in no particular order): Walther PP/PPK, S&W Model 29 (6" barrel), nickel 5.5" Beretta Stampede (Colt SAA).

I was going to search for this, but I see someone posted it already. Gorgeous.

This one looks good from the trigger guard forward. The grip looks like some third-world, orthopedic knee brace. Ugh.

So close to voting for the python. But the vent rib ruins it for me. The gun equivalent of wearing sunglasses at night.

So another vote Colt Gold Cup Series 70

Post I'm partial to Inox

But a friend has a matte stainless 6" Python, and it EXUDES awesomness.
I was going to post a picture and the picture was of an AIRSOFT gun.. arghgh

And yes, of course the S&W 41 is a fantastic looking and functioning gun. I love the stock grip, but sometimes they put those awful 'Olympic' monstrosities on them...
