Default New Kid on the Block here..

Hello everyone!!! I have been visiting the site for a few months now and decided to sign up..FINALLY!! My friend said NOT to do it!! He says it's gonna put a big hole in my pocket!! LOL

I wanted to learn more on the "laws" side before i get into the firearms dept. I've learned a lot just reading the legalities of owning a firearm...

Now I just need to go rent some guns at the range and decide which one fits my hands well..

Thanks...

Hey, welcome. I used to live in American Canyon, know Vallejo pretty well. Where do you shoot? I would drive to the Richmond Range, got to know all those fellows there. But they don't have rentals. You know about the "pistol ammo" restrictions coming next year?

Good luck on selecting a firearm, I have had a few. Maybe you can find the "perfect fit".

Thank You all for the warm welcome. I have rented an XD9 tactical and a glock 35. I like the glocks but the pistol grip is a little too big for me. Shoots awesome. The XD9 fits my hands better... Also had a friend that let me shoot his 1911 springfield (dont know what model). I liked it so much that I am shopping around for a 1911 for my first purchase.. Any recomendations? colt, kimber, s&w, springfield, para? leaning towards para or springfield. budget at the moment is at $1k..

Find something decent used for $750. Spend the rest on ammo and get training.

a good starter 1911 at a nice price is the SIG GSR revolution. you can find them for around 1k flat and the build qualitys pretty good. plus its kind of a hybrid 1911, it has a different styled slide that looks sorta like the XD...

thats on my shopping list next for sure. i want a nice kimber/para but they are more expensive...
