Updates? Let's see...

I got all my official patent stuff squared-away and got all the certificates in the mail and whatnot. I'm tweaking a few small things on the design like the bottom plate, deciding whether I want to make a single, removable plate with an included spring anchor, or make a separate piece with the spring anchor and spring guide....stuff like that.

I've got my metal stamping guy working on another project right now, so I want to get that squared away first before I start distracting him with specs on the mag.

Slow progress, but progress nonetheless.

-~D~-
Very nice! Put me down for at least two when these start coming out. And thank you for taking the time to do this, the magazines are coming along superbly. Well done

I, like all Americans, love a success story. To actually watch it in the making is extra sweet. Why this has not been built in the last hundred years I don't know, and am glad it has not been done yet.

You think the plans for this could be rushed up to the elves at Santa's Workshop? That could make for a whole lot of really happy Mosin owners.

Man, I so hope this goes somewhere!

It'll definitely go somewhere, I'm just in a breakneck last-minute rush with my day job at the moment but hope to be moving into a real workshop very soon. After that I can focus on the mags a bit more.

You've got 7 pages of calgunners with blue balls! (pardon the expression)

I need one of these just so people at the range will be like "did that mosin just shoot ten times without reloading? Nah..couldn't be a mosin."

Thanks for your enthusiasm, guys. If it was possible, I'd leave one under the Christmas tree for all of you this year.

The only thing I'm not looking forward to is having to explain to people that this might take a little sanding and filing on their end before it works perfectly due to the rather large variation in Mosin measurements. I'm sure every gun accessory company would like to have the luxury of blaming the firearm for any issues, but for a device like this, it really would be the case. There's a hefty margin of error on some of these rifles which can cause some difficulties while engineering a device to match them. I'm sure no matter how many disclaimers I put on it, or how clearly I explain this, some people are just going to rant and rave that I sold them a piece of crap. I'm expecting a lot of returns and exchanges.

oh well, I still think it's a cool product and will be worth the headaches.

How about making them slightly oversized and include instructions on "How to obtain a correct fit to your specific rifle" with them.

I'm still excited about these, moreso that the manufacture is definitely going to happen, but I can be patient. My Mosin, on the other hand, is so excited it can't sleep!

Not sure if I've said it in this thread before, but I'll take two when these get produced.

I have 5 Mosin's raging from a nice sniper to a couple "you fix em's" so I guess I'll have to get one of these too.

I have no problem making any mods required to make it work.

Actually I fully expected these to need some "tweaking" due to the large range of variances with Russian arms.
And that doesn't bother me one bit!

But like you said, you need to put a disclaimer on them for those who don't understand old world Russian manufacturing.

With all that said....... I still want at least 2 if not 4!

make them to fit the median size variance of mosins so that those that are bigger won't have to modify, and only those with it smaller. that way it at least cuts down those who do have the file to 1/3 (in a way) of buyers.

That's what I was thinking too, and was the reason I posted that "Got a Mosin and a set of calipers?" thread a while back. If I find the mean measurement, I can aim mine in the middle too. Any parts that I get manufactured will also have tolerances both up and down, so I could probably even set aside the exceptionally large and small ones for people with large or small Mosins. That might satisfy the largest number of customers.

Speaking of which, I added my new 91/30 to that list. It's probably too late, but better late than never right?

Datamancer, like all here I wish you the very best in your endevour, and yes I will be in line to purchase a couple, one for the m38 and one for the 91/30.
Don't get discouraged by the few that may piss and moan about the fitment on a couple models. Remember some people you can dip their *** in gold and they will complain about the weight!
I personaly have found that very few "bolt on" mods don't require some fitment due to unforseen issues! That doesn't make it a bad thing.

You might want to add an optional Mosin measurement to your order page to more precisely match these custom magazine to the customer's rifle before you ship. It's probably better than waiting for returns.

Put me down for two.

HELL YEAH I'm up for one or two of these! To have such a magazine for a Mosin-Nagant would be just so cool. BTW, a very strong suggestion for you that, if you can, yes, you oughta produce a >10 round version for those of us in Free states. Not everywhere is like Kommiefornia has become.

I do understand the tolerance issues in Russian arms of that area. Heck, M1903 Springfields can have significant tolerance issues, as can S&W and Colt revolvers of that era. Just include some instructions as to what to do, and that ought to do it.
